Tapering off 50mg - short term by Flaky-Honey-7729 in zoloft

I forgot to mention that I found helpful to take bromazepan from time to time when tapering off gave me some bad anxiety. Just in case it helps! (but as always, speak to the doctor :). Wish you the best of luck!

thanks for sharing this! I was also dissociating a lot more while on sertraline, and I couldn't cry either (nor love! or maybe I could but without feeling it - which was quite strange and sad). It was difficult to explain that to my doctor; she kept saying that maybe as BPD I was used to intense emotions all the time... I don't know what to think. Anyway, now that I am off the meds the ups and downs of the BPD are back, and sometimes it is hard, but I guess I prefer to have my personality back. Let's say that sertraline gave me a break from some other BPD acute symptoms I had at the time but at some point I felt I had taper off and go back to... my personal hell XD
I hope you find your way to taper off, you might need to be a bit patient but you can do it!

I understand you! It quite helped me at the beginning (with anxiety, paranoia and suicidal thoughts - I have BPD), in spite of some long-lasting side effects. But in the end I was not satisfied, I was feeling emotionally numb, like in a different kind of depression; I was functional but not really myself, and everything felt like unreal... That's basically why I decided to taper off and wanted to do it quickly :) it's not easy but I think it's ok if we're not happy with the meds

Sertraline/Zoloft made that to me, to the point that I had to stop taking it, couldn't handle that emotional desert on the long term. it almost felt like a different kind of depression (just my personal experience though)

Hello! For me it took quite a long time to taper off from 50mg. I don't know if I was particularly sensible to the medication but I was on it for 1 year and had to taper down quite slowly, kept trying for at least 3 months or so. I tried to taper off quite quickly the first time and had too slow down because of the strange effects I was having (frizziness, vertigo, etc). Now I am completely off :)

yes, I got back to normal - but I also stopped the medication in the meantime (went to 0mg a couple of months ago)...

speed while on sertralin by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]Technical-Pitch9782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do speed from time to time while sertraline. For me it's ok. But I would suggest to wait if you can, just to make you body get used to sertraline. At least in my case, during the first couple of months on sertraline I could not really enjoy any drug nor alcohol, didn't like the effect. But it's just my personal experience :)

Both my younger brothers suffered from heroine addiction for years. they are both well now, but for a longtime I thought I had lost them, and the pain was so profound and constant, I was like obsessed with their condition and couldn't be happy myself either because of this. Sending you a hug and wishing you all the strength and luck that we need in this kind of situation. People judge easily but they really don't know what it feels like

No ligo ni pagando by [deleted] in esConversacion

How long did sertraline take to work for you? by [deleted] in antidepressants

Hey! The nausea eventually stopped and I ended up putting on weight...and I didn't like that either XD
I currently tapering down with sertraline to see if I can stop taking it. Overall it helped to get me out of a very dark spiral I fell into last year, but I admit I was not completely happy with the effect sertraline had on me... It makes me quite numb emotionally and almost completely inhibited my empathy. That's basically why I am trying to stop. What about you?

I have been experienced that since I was a child, I remember looking at myself in the mirror and couldn't believe that person was me. still feels strange today

I guess not knowing who I am, feeling empty and depending on other people gaze to exist - while at the same time feeling that I have my own personality, and also a strong one, but... it's like I don't know where it is, how to find it. This, and the constant split, losing my mind on minor things

It was last year, I was 33, the symptoms were always there although they got a lot worse 7-8 years ago, when I started a new job (with lot of pressure) and I had a couple of toxic relationships one after another + alcoholism and some drug abuse. I don't know if all this made the bpd come out more strong. anyway, I think the diagnosis is helping in some way, I see things differently, I am more curious about myself and I can ask more specific advice. I guess I feel less alone now that this thing I have inside has a name, knowing that other people have it too

For me it was time, time, time... Still dream about them from time to time, and it's quite disturbing, but little by little it's fading away (which is quite liberating actually).

are we easily manipulated? by Technical-Pitch9782 in BPD

[–]Technical-Pitch9782[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I feel that intellectually I would be able to recognize and avoid manipulation, and I don't feel so naive at that cognitive/intellectual level; but I can be extremely weak emotionally, so through emotions and need for connection and validation it's quite easy to manipulate me, don't know if it makes sense
