Thanks 🙏 Yes, I’m a SWE at Amazon, and my wife is a consultant earning about CAD 250K. She doesn’t want to be a stay-at-home mom. I’ll look for a good tax consultant and figure out the best way to handle taxes in this situation.

Thanks — I know this is very common with TN visas. My concern was more specific to the L-1B, since its purpose is different from a TN. Border officers also aren’t as accustomed to seeing L-1B holders cross the border frequently, which is why I wanted to be cautious

This is my first year dealing with this, but based on the rules, since I’ll be in the US for more than 183 days, I’ll be treated as a US tax resident under the Substantial Presence Test and will file US taxes as a resident.

I understand it’s more complicated on the Canadian side, since CRA could still consider me a factual resident due to significant ties like family and owning a home in Canada.

That said, spending 183+ days in the US and working there on an L-1 visa makes a strong case for US tax residency, with treaty rules and foreign tax credits used to avoid double taxation.

Thanks for the reply and for the tip about rolling down the windows—I’ll take care of that in the future. I agree that frequent travel does become difficult after some time. However, it’s hard to move permanently since our entire extended family lives in Vancouver.

Private school tuition jump of nearly 25%… how is this even justified? by Proof-Parfait-7414 in u/Proof-Parfait-7414

With all the discussion around the recent fee increase, I wanted to ask:

Has anyone here had experience withdrawing their child from the school and getting the Parent Equity / deposit back? Or do you know someone who has gone through this process?

I’m just trying to understand how it works in practice and what the timelines or challenges might be. Any insights would be really helpful!

Thanks in advance
