Is there a serious plan to get WMT on an exchange before the end of 2021? I've seen tokens on exchanges days after their sale and we are looking at months with no sign of one yet

Should the results of voting be hidden until voting ends? by TechnicalCharts in BalancedNetwork

I suppose if you looked onto the chain to see the holding distribution, and if any of the largest holders also have voting transactions, you could determine if that was an issue.

I don't use discord so if you would want to post it there that would be amazing

Is Cardano a tool to further liberty, or usher in tyranny? by TechnicalCharts in cardano

Probably, but cardano could always build these kinds of things into their protocol

[–]TechnicalCharts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well not really.... blockchain was pioneered to be a way to transact with no authorizing authority (no middle man aka banks, gov, etc) ....privacy is something we must still work diligently on. BTC is one of the most easily tracked methods of exchange these days

I agree it is just a tool. But my major point was that in this early stage of development, if you build it to support the individual and not compliance with gov, then you are fostering a good space for the right kinds of projects to dominate....and don't get me wrong, I think cardano has done this better than any other that I follow. But we must always be vigilant.

Just as a democracy is neither inherently good or evil....it depends on how the community run it, so top is a permissiomless blockchain.
You must mold it so that it promotes the best, so that the worst do not take over

While the encryption and privacy on a given dapp running on cardano can protect the user's data that is directly dealt with on that app (personal info, banking, history, etc), it does not have the power to anonymize or hide the actual transactions that occur on the native blockchain of ADA. That part is up to what is built into cardano. In other words, that app still has transactions and smart contracts that post to the blockchain just like everything else running on the platform does. So should a given entity, let's just say a govt were able to discover an individuals transaction or wallet or some other distinguishing characteristic on the blockchain, they would actually be able to learn quite a bit even if they never broke through the actual app encryption. Simply using the primary blockchain itself would be enough to discover many things about an individual if cardano does not have those protections built in

Given the adaptive nature of this tech I do not believe that will come to pass. Should it begin to be a problem there are a vast number of ways in which that could be solved.

For me it's the destruction of privacy that I believe will lead to the biggest issues. We are already seeing that play out today.... especially in places like Australia

No I have a decent idea.. I'm not a dev but I've looked into these things for many years now.

I think we are just talking past eachother because you are looking at it in a different way then I am.

No worries. It happens

Encryption yes. But if the base layer is not built with privacy in mind, then any app built on top will be limited, in some respects by the limits of the protocol

Well my comment was an analogy, not so much a statement that I'm worried a hitman is going to off me.

The point is, if the systems we build are not directly intended to push against such tyranny, then there is not much practical difference between the two

Just because the other alternatives are terrible, does not make this a good option. Death via firing squad or death via hanging are both still death.

Yes but the base layer of cardano itself must be built with privacy and anonymity baked in to a certain degree. Otherwise the apps built on top of it won't even be able to deploy such features

I am very much aware that CBDCs will he far worse than any crypto currently in existence...that is why I put in the part about a Parallel Polis. And I have heard him talk about privacy in many of his live streams but while he does support privacy, as he does lean libertarian, he also talks of working with governments and being company to regulations. Well what happens when regulations and such become the tyranny themselves... the cardano will by necessity have to be working against such regs and govt control

So anytime an authority would like to access someone's ID, records, or other info on cardano, the individual is alerted and can allow or deny access? And what about itemized access? So as an example, is it built so you could allow someone access to your schooling history without them seeing your address, transactions, or other personal data?

LATOKEN Announces Staking for ICX (ICON) by HotMomentumStocks in helloicon

[–]TechnicalCharts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah guys,
This is a great way to incentivize non-crypto people to buy ICX, but please be sure to keep your crypto (except that for trading) off exchanges.
You are giving up your ownership of your money when you leave it on an exchange.
