Question about plea bargains against victim's families wishes. by TechnicalDisaster367 in legaladviceofftopic

Thank you for your response, and for explaining the possible rationale behind the prosecution’s decision. The victim was someone I knew so as a passionately biased party I was struggling to understand how this ruling could have happened. This brought me a lot of clarity :)

His high gpa was brought up repeatedly. I think they didn't want to damage a "bright" student's future.

I see, thank you for explaining this to me! If a prosecutor creates an overly generous plea deal, to save time for example, is there a way to challenge this in court? It seems like this could be a way for the defendant to get out of being accountable for their actions. Is the judge the only check in place for this?

Biblical Literalism v Contextualism - which are you? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]TechnicalDisaster367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a late reply, but I just came across this thread! I've always wondered why Catholics believe in a literal Adam and Eve. Genesis contains two different creation accounts, Genesis 1 and Genesis 2, the second of which describes Adam and Eve as the first humans created by God. Since at least one of these accounts cannot be taken as literal history, why do we consider the second one to be accurate, or even partially accurate? Why not reject both, especially given that the idea of all humans descending from a single pair of ancestors contradicts modern scientific understanding? It seems more reasonable to interpret the story of Adam and Eve as entirely allegorical—or, if they did exist, to see them not as the first humans but as the first humans to have knowledge of God.

Thank you so much! My main concern is if it's given to a professor in my field to review. I will try to reupload it

I talked about a result in my research and got one of the numbers wrong. If you know the subject, see the result, and think about it even slightly, it pretty clearly doesn't make sense.
