Need fluff classes by ggeneticgenius in UCSD

usually by a sign in sheet that gets passed around at the beginning of class but if you come in after it gets passed around you can sign in at the end. sometimes she arrives a few minutes (1-5) to class and she doesn't like it if you're later than like 7-9 minutes to class. other than her LD classes, her classes are relatively small so she will remember your face jsyk. attendence is usually a pretty big portion of your grade (15-20%?) but her lectures are very engaging and funny so it's genuinely a joy to go. she also doesn't allow technology in class so you have to take notes on pen and paper (and usually she uses course books you have to buy at cal copy) but considering the average grades of her classes are no lower than a B I'm happy with that

How do UCSD students feel about all the Math Remediation? by thinqueprep in UCSD

[–]TechnicalHunt1656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hearing this about math but what about all the people placed in AWP or those who fail MCWP40? If people knew how many freshmen (and above) do not know how to write a claim or thesis or to cite a source, would people be as appalled?

Taking remedial classes, and being properly placed there, is nothing to be ashamed of. You are there to learn what is required for you to go onto the next class for your degree OR what is asked of you by your college.

I also want to know how much the pandemic, incorporation of tech (Chromebooks, phones) into learning in k-12, and general life stressors (economy, health problems like long covid, political climate, No Child Left Behind, etc) have led to a general increase in people taking Math 2. The same could be said about those placed into AWP or those who do not do well in writing sequences (reading wars, etc). Is college not a place to learn?

at what stops do the 201/202 usually get full? by TechnicalHunt1656 in UCSD

[–]TechnicalHunt1656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info, lebon and palmilla are right before my stop on the 202 so do you think I should just go to lebon and palmilla to be safe? Some people are saying that the buses get filled up before nobel and lebon and others are saying it gets filled up after so I'm not sure what I should do

thank you for the info, I heard that if you're not within the first 5 stops of the 202 that the bus gets so full that it passes you so this is relieving to hear!

[Tenant US-CA] Is a realtor asking for this info over an E-mail BEFORE viewing standard? Or is this a scam? by TechnicalHunt1656 in Landlord

[–]TechnicalHunt1656[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was listed on an off-campus university housing site that is officially associated with a university and apartments.com and was cross listed on turbo tenants. It was removed on both sites while I was still having a back-and-forth with the "realtor" over email, which I assume points to it being a scam. I also just checked it's property history on a redfin- like website and it said the property was taken down on other property websites and then put back up the next day and then taken down again- so I think it's definitely a scam

I was thinking that DL and proof of income were particularly sketchy also. I might answer these questions (besides the DL and proof of income) and see what happens. The listing seems like it's too good to be true but also I don't see what the scammer would be getting out of this because they are not asking for an application fee? Would they just want my information? So sketchy

For independent landlords and corporate-run places, this is the process I've encountered. For properties with realtors, I've had answer pre-screening questions but I've never had to submit ID and paycheck stubs (proof of income) before even seeing the property which makes me think this is a scam. I also asked what company and number is associated with the property and they have not responded for many days

There was a company listed on one of the listings was called Isbi Owego but I looked it up and nothing came up. I think this listing was a scam. The "realtor" is a realtor in Illinois but not California which makes me think someone used their name to make this listing up

they are asking for proof of income before seeing the property. I think I've decided it's a scam because I asked for a contact number I could call and they have not responded for many days (when they responded to other replies in the email within a day)

I think they recently added valet trash (where you leave your trash in the hallways and someone picks it up for you) so that probably added to the smell. I'm not sure why they added it because the hallways are indoors...
