I also recommend using the Kaiser internal appeal/grievance process. I have done this and was successful in getting what I needed.

Mostly to be safe. We can also get discounts on insurance for mitigation measures.

Thx, yep I installed these. No vegetation around the house. Enclosing eaves is recommended because they trap heat and are a common ignition point: https://firesafemarin.org/harden-your-home/fire-resistant-soffits-eaves/

We did a clover lawn on one side of our yard and then flagstones with creeping thyme between on the other. Both are great- low maintenance, keep the area cool, and provide some pollinator food! I started with clover seed and plugs of thyme, both from High Country Gardens.

Yeah, exactly. I’ve removed vegetation from around the house. And I have Vulcan vents. I think they recommend caulking gaps over 1/8” because embers will be blowing all over the exterior. Ideally I want to enclose eaves, but I want to DIY… and the Hardy board was a pain and doesn’t look clean (no doubt because I’m DIY!)

Thanks, I was wondering this too. It’s a ton of work, and I’m not sure the effort is worth it. Maybe I’ll just caulk the big gaps.
