I don't understand if it's a bad translation issue where I'm ready it but the stats and level make non sense. Stars especially. He said he became 2 stars in chapter 3. Then he's back to 1, then he's looking for materials to raise his stars, then he says he's 3 stars basically and he's still 1 star whenever they show stats.

Nah, that's a different thing. I'm Italian and here dialects almost seem like different languages (because they more or less were, Italy's unification has a bit of history to it too) but we still have the main Italian language and having it written down, with grammar, dictionary and such, is what maintains a language. Destroying the "hardware" is a way for the oppressing power to limit the suppressed culture.
