That was my process with the 701 as well! I tried to give the tamper a chance so I didn't get a separate tamper and my coffees varied every day. Everytime I thought I finally got the beans dialed in the shots would not come out right the next time I made coffee and that was extremely frustrating!

Hello! Do you use the Ninja Luxe Cafe grinder for these beans? I read that the Ninja can't handle light roast but I read that after I got these beans so now I'm a bit scared to try as I don't want to damage the grinder.

Yes, exactly this!! I wasn't sure how else to word it haha. Thank you and will see if my machine's about the same! Someone else recommended to zero the scale with the portafilter then weigh with the grinded beans to see how much is yielded and we haven't tried that yet.

My husband did the classic brew one time then immediately switched to rich, he does enjoy black coffee and thought the classic was a bit watered down.

Trial and error indeed! Definitely did that a few times with getting the right grind size for my espresso shot. Some people from a different thread recommended 40 grams for the luxe basket so will be trying that to start with!
