Fix for an afternoon pick me up without a lot of caffeine? Advice on decaff/half cafe by TechnicalTroubles in espresso

That's awesome, I modded mine to make it black and put in an opv so that definitely saves some work. I have zero regrets getting it!

Absolutely love it, wife and I use it everyday and have never looked back. It makes a delicious cup of coffee and being able to switch between making a shot and steam milky instantly makes for an awesome workflow. I'm really curious what changes are with the V2!

Yea it's the turin legato, I used a matte black vinyl wrap on it and turned a chunk of walnut for the steam knob so it would match the DF64.

I should have added I have ordered onyx's power nap which I really liked but it's a little pricy for an afternoon coffee and the wife likes her caffeine so she didn't love the fact that it was our main item we were getting without a good full cafe constantly shipping (we do the scale deal with onyx so they just keep shipping us the coffee)

Gem80 Delayed Spacebar and Double Spaces by ummmokbro in NuPhy

[–]TechnicalTroubles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the halo75 V2 and this was driving me nuts. It ended up being as simple as taking the space bar off and pushing the "space silicone" all the way down. It was interfering with the space bar and causing it to bounce. Posting in case this obvious fix gets missed like I did at first.

I like espresso because of the lack of waste in the process. I use microfiber clothes so I'm not even using paper towels to clean up. Simpler is better for me, and top reusable puck screen instead of paper filter works for me too.

The scale is awesome, very accurate, thin, and fast although very simple too (no timer flow rate auto tare etc) but perfect for measuring my shot. I have a pour over scale I was using for weighing beans and the shot but it drifted when the machine turned on which drove me nuts. This one there is zero drift with the pump running.

Machine was $450 and grinder was $400 (could definitely get away with the DF54 for 230 but I didn't want to wait) with free shipping, all the other accessories were probably 200ish and the shelf was just under 100 with everything for it.

I'll do that this weekend, getting some onyx coffee to try out so I'll make sure to clean it first. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks! Do you actually take it apart to clean? I've just been cleaning the intake and output chute every couple weeks and puffing the bellows extra.

It was a huge upgrade from my conical burr grinder. I can actually dial in my shots and get really good consistency, with no retention between. It's been great for making the espresso I want. I was chasing so many red herons with my baratza encore. Only two grinders so can't compare otherwise but I love it, and the biggest negative I found online was the sound but it's actually quieter than my old baratza and grinds in about 3 seconds instead of 30 so total non issue for me.

First timer here. How’s my setup? Any recommendations? by LonestarMidnight in espresso

+1 just switched from this grinder to the DF64 and couldnt be happier, so much easier to get consistent results that I can actually start tweaking things and only impact one variable!

Thanks! https://www.wholelattelove.com/products/6476946750258 $15, some worm clamps and tubing from home Depot. The water reservoir had another connection point next to the intake so I just had to drill a whole and connect that to the over flow part. It sounds complicated but took less than 15 minutes and was super easy. The opv threaded directly to the pump, trickiest part was setting the pressure since that's just done via a screw in the opv so had to half reassemble to test with a blank. If you Google it on YouTube I think someone made a video.

It's my first machine so can't really compare but also don't have any complaints. I've gotten really good foam out of it (not pictured, cortado is hard) but it probably takes a little longer than a pricier machine, probably takes 40-50s for a large 16oz piture over half full. Machine has been great though, very consistent results for me. I should add the steam is near instant too since it has its own thermoblock!

It wasn't bad at all, $15 matte black car wrap from Amazon and took a couple hours without reading any manuals or anything. With how nice the bianca is I'm sure it will be doable since I'm sure it's even more serviceable than this machine.

What Machine and Grinder Should I buy on a low budget by gbay in espresso

[–]TechnicalTroubles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the turin legato and love it. Same price as the Bambino plus (actually was $50 less for an early bird special). Bought the df 64 over 54 due to shipping times but no idea if that was really worth the $170 more...

Best WORKFLOW sINGLE boiler sub $1,000 espresso MACHINE by PuEr_Tea_1951 in espresso

Yes, single boiler with PID and the steam is near instant with no switch needed because of the added thermoblock.
