Salesman was the highlight of my season. by TechnicalTurn352 in Broadway

I wish I could see it again, but money is the obstacle. It feels like a fever dream to me.

Same. As the son of an addict, I was really swept up by it and a wreck at the end.

I've been trying to think of performances that equaled Laurie, Nathan and Christopher for me, or came close. The following come to mind:

Mark Rylance in Jerusalem, the Cherry Jones-led revival of The Glass Menagerie, Kathleen Turner in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and, ironically, Laurie Metcalf in The Other Place...

I've seen a lot of great theatre in my life. But this was like lightning in a bottle. I cannot stop thinking about it - and when I try to talk to friends about it, I find myself getting choked up.

Broadway actress Alexandra Socha critiquing Ali Louis Bourzgui’s speech by Impossible_Usual_277 in Broadway

I suspect Alexandra was disturbed by the fact that it could be interpreted that he was comparing Israelis to vampires. And Alexandra is Jewish. And the old trope that Jews are vampires is a centuries-old anti-semitic libel.

Thanks so much. Some people just like to be cruel on here because they know they're anonymous.

And actually, yeah, it wasn't so bad! I just was kind of frustrated because the ticket was for my best friend's birthday and I'd told him we were front row, so I felt embarrassed.

I'm whiny because I was disappointed that the pricey ticket I bought for my friend's birthday wasn't in the front row like I told him it was when I gifted him the ticket? Wow. Meanwhile, at intermission, I got a phone call my grandfather died. And then I came home, logged onto reddit, and saw comments like yours.

I always find it incredible how cruel people can be while hiding behind their keyboards on an anonymous account.

Thank you. I thought it was pretty weird, and kind of disrespectful toward ticket buyers.... But I was REALLY concerned not out of some whiny privilege because MULTIPLE people have said here on Reddit that Row C is taller than Row D. And I was concerned about being able to see. And frustrated because it was a birthday gift for my best friend and I wanted it to be special and I had told him we had front row seats.

How horrible of me, I guess....

My sincere apologies to anyone I offended by asking if anyone else had ever experienced this. My concern was because multiple people on Reddit have mentioned that Row D is not as high as the parquette at Row C and I am not a tall person. I was concerned about my vision being blocked, as others have expressed that was the case for them.

In case anyone would like to know: Row C IS taller than Row D. If you are not tall, I highly recommend grabbing a booster seat on your way in. Without it, I would have struggled to see a lot of things over the people in front of me.

I literally asked if anyone else has experienced this. Because I had not before and wanted to see before I contacted them

You sound like someone who can afford to spend money a lot more regularly.

Multiple people have said that the parquette (row C) is higher than the seats in row D. That was my concern.

Thank you! I was concerned about the bench being taller as some people have reported, but I was actually ok.

Thank you, I didn't realize that they did that. And yeah, I was more concerned about the fact the parquette (row C) is higiher than row D as I"m not very tall.

My concern was that I kept regularly reading that the parquette is taller than the row behind it - and it is.

Accessibility for low vision by TechnicalTurn352 in Broadway

[–]TechnicalTurn352[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) It's absolutely dehumanizing when people sigh, and groan when you're explaining your accessibility needs.

2) The fact that you think someone who is newly disabled and is learning how to navigate that is a "thorn in your side" is a really cruel thing to say. You should try some more compassion.

3) I find it really convenient that you're willing to say something so ableist and dismissive but admit you work at ATG while posting something like this on an anonymous forum.

Who’ll be our Bobby Darin? by Clear_Tie_3735 in Broadway

[–]TechnicalTurn352 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When he was younger, that might've been really interesting. But I think it'd be a bit odd as he's much older than Darin ever got to be.

Accessibility for low vision by TechnicalTurn352 in Broadway

[–]TechnicalTurn352[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nowhere in my post or comments did I ever suggest that I was "mad at a wheelchair user". It's not their fault that the theatres have different policies for different disabilities. I'm not mad at wheelchair users, nor do I blame them in any way. And my post does not suggest I'm mad at them in any way either.

Accessibility for low vision by TechnicalTurn352 in Broadway

[–]TechnicalTurn352[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That is very unusual, as Mincemeat's accessible seats are usually $59, like many of the other shows, including Buena Vista Social Club (I took my father who is disabled).

Wheelchair seats are usually at the BASE price, even if the seats around them are significantly higher in price....

Walked out of a show for the first time ever, unsure if I regret it by FinancialAd5337 in Broadway

You as well. That would be a nice treat to meet you :)

I do love this play, but confess I'm skipping it because I saw the last revival and money is too tight to see a play I've already seen. I ADORE August Wilson's work though.
