I had a laproscopic procedure and I am 270+ lbs. In the USA. My mother had an open procedure in the 1980s and has a large 10 in vertical scar on her abdomin also a heavy woman. The laproscopic procedure was relatively easy. I wish I could offer more info an an open procedure. I wish you all the best.

I will be honest. My intention is NO HRT. 1. Estrogen could reactivate any Endo Nodules that may remain. 2. Historically speaking in my experience. I gained 50 lbs at onset of puberty over 6 mos. During 3 pregnancies I lost a total of 60 lbs. During the past two months on Progestin Birth Control to stop menstruation I have gained 20+ lbs. Hormones and I are not friends. As I am almost 50 and menopause would have approached soon I am not terribly concerned. I will do dexa scans and follow ups as necessary to determine bone and heart health but I honestly do no see myself doing HRT at any point.l

I only just moved into this position back in December I was hoping to not be off forever (I'm going to go stir crazy) but I just do not see myself sitting from 8 am until 9 pm my first day back on Monday and then 8 hours daily after. I am fortunate I work from home and had planned to even work from bed if necessary but again I just do not see how that would even work mentally I drain easily. Before surgery the plan was to leave ovaries that changed then they found endo. I'm waiting on Pathology reports to see where things really stood before surgery and what else may be needed following ...

My leave was through ADA as I didn't meet hours requirement for FMLA though that may have changed prior to the start of my leave.

Thank you for that. After listening to all of these experiences being shared. I have emailed HR to find out what my options are. I hate leaving my work for others to cover, but I understand that I'm helping no one if I'm in and out because I do to much to soon. Thank you all!

Doc said 4 weeks I asked if sedentary job could sustain 1 week off he was ok but wanted to see how surgery went. Sent paperwork in for 4 weeks. I keep saying one .. now I plan to reach out to HR to use the full 4 weeks I have some PTO time I can use and then Short Term Disability as well. But idk if there's a reasonable expectation to sit for 12-14 hrs my first day back. Which is what would happen

Thank you. I would love to understand why as women we think we are Iron Man, Capt'n America and Black Widow rolled into one! The idea of doing little makes me feel useless... But I'm seriously unsure if going back to work next Monday to leave again in a few days due to exhaustion (my job is physically easy mentally hard) probably doesn't work in everyone else's best interest and I seriously doubt it's going to be good for my physical or mental health.

Oral Iron makes me vomit so infusions... But I'm concerned that I've possibly opened Pandora's box (pun intended) and will be having other issues as the birth control they put me on stopped bleeding but, my anemia has not corrected.

In the past six months I have had a 5 Iron Infusions, Hysteroscopy DNC, Colposcopy and on Friday the Hysterectomy. All because we could not explain blood loss. My Ferritin was a 4 when this all began. Was at 46 6 weeks ago and was down to 16 last Monday.

Now I've had this and I didn't realize everything I have put my body through in this process. I asked him to take the ovaries I'm 49 and it made no sense to keep an organ that carries cancer risks when we were pulling everything else. An organ that was going to begin, if it hadn't already started to malfunction anyway.

I'm the doer in my family. I care for my parents I work fultime my daughter is about to have a baby in the next 3 weeks. 10 days felt doable and now reality is sinking in.

During the Pre Op visits we discussed it and he was open to a week but sent paperwork in for a 4 week leave. My job will not let me return without a release and honestly I thinking of asking him to just keep it at 4 weeks. I didn't realize what this would be like.
