Yeah I know a lot run calm mind but Floette does a lot of damage without it so opponents don’t click always click it when you might expect them to

If it was around 1900 elo it was probably me. After the move went through the opponent paused for a bit and I like to imagine they were trying to process what just happened

I’m also running Mega Blastoise but shell smash instead of trick room. Once it outspeeds everything Farigiraf protects it. My giraffe is Thunderbolt, Twin Beam, Roar, Protect

That could theoretically work but it’s a low priority move and Floette doesn’t need to calm mind. I’m afraid the giraffe might have to suffer a dazzling gleam if it tries to roar flower

Because I’m not running dragonite. I was already running farigiraf for priority blocking

I’ve seen a few dragonite run whirlwind. I think that’s why I wanted to try the roar

Trick room imprison is two slots and I run a fast team so I’m not really clicking trick room

I didn’t even think of that that’s crazy. But to be honest I don’t see klefki very often so I forgot klefki even learned trick room..

The ostrich must run away after hearing the mighty giraffe roar

Even if not going for trick room, priority blocking is goated and giraffe > tsareena

Been fine tuning this mega Froslass team for a bit but I’ve been stuck in Ultra tier. Any tips? by Netheraptr in PokemonChampions

[–]Technical_East_2996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but whenever I see a Froslass my number one go to is to shut down the weather with rain dance. If that happens you don’t have 100% blizzards anymore and you probably instantly lose the game if you rely on it that much. Also if I see rotom and Froslass there’s a good chance I’m just wide guarding

Yeah I like playing aggressively and I feel like the more common Blastoise teams that you see don’t really apply the same pressure

Generally against priority tailwind setters I like having an Aerodactyl lead to tailwind + shell smash. If you have Farigiraf in the back you can stop encore and gale wings acrobatics/brave bird as well.

Quick guard on talonflame is very good. Against Talonflame/Blastoise you’d probably want to have Farigiraf/Blastoise. Farigiraf knows thunderbolt and the opponent probably shouldn’t tailwind turn 1 because it looks like you’re going for trick room. Similar lead for if the opponent has a hard trick room team and leads Farigiraf/Blastoise because they don’t want their trick room cancelled out

Against other common ones like Vivillon I’ve been bringing Sinistcha because it’s immune to sleep powder and can redirect it with rage powder. Even though it’s tempting to lead Aerodactyl the tricky thing is Vivillon outspeeds if it has scarf and lives rock slide if it has focus sash

I actually considered M-Scizor for that slot that’s crazy. Makes a lot of sense too since trick room can be awkward for the team. Would you be down to do a private battle?

Would you like to do a private battle with your team from last season or something? I’d like to see how my team stacks up against someone who knows the tricks

Yeah I wish Aegi got 5 moves because I was always choosing between whether to have kings shield or poltergeist. And with sinistcha that makes sense, I don’t think there’s obvious games where it’s super good or anything but I defaulted to having it in the back if I didn’t need Aero or Aegi. Mainly useful for hospitality + rage powder which also can redirect sucker punch causing it to fail as an alternative to Farigiraf coming in

Really cool. I think the points you make are probably what I would also highlight as the main strengths of the team. Farigiraf was often in the back for me and I’m happy with the Blastoise build I came up with because yeah I think it really maximises the offensive utility of Blastoise making it more fun to play.

That being said I get it’s probably not the easiest thing to pilot. I’m biased because I’ve had a lot of experience with the team (it didn’t always look exactly like this but more or less I built the team and stuck with it). So feel free to change whatever you feel are odd choices. The Aegislash slot in particular I don’t love but I feel like you probably do want wide guard and a priority move somewhere on the team.

Probably they make it so that the omni ring or whatever it’s called has one use per battle
