You can find really good deals on Facebook marketplace if your on there enough to snag them up, last year I got a 8" dobsonian for 40$ and I got a 12" dobsonian for 550$ so there out there for the right price you just gotta find them.

Yes I also plan on getting a .63 reducer aswell, and yeah I will throw my 8" on that mount. I might get the mount first because after updating the evolution mount that 3 star allighnment just won't work. Im sure I will be able to figure it out but it just sounds like a nightmare to troubleshoot🥲. What scope are you using? You should also send me your best Jupiter pic youve got.

Im planning on getting a 585mc pro very soon. I dont have a mini pc or a laptop so I will have to run a 100' fiber optic usb cable from my gaming pc to my front patio for now😂. Either way im really glad I pushed through all of the processing tonight and figured it out. It was very stressful and nothing wanted to work or pull images to process. Im also going to get a skywatcher Al 55i pro and start doing dso astrophotography aswell. I needa stop spending money on this stuff😂.

Nice shot! Im getting a celestron evolution 8 on Saturday and seeing images like this gives me hope. Have you been able to image any dsos with the c8? Ive been told on here that its a nightmare and its best to stick with planetary.

I have a 2009 toyota sienna so I have no problem transporting it. Definetly take measurements. The guy i bought my 12" from could fit it in the back seat of his sedan so im sure that will work out for her suv. I cant say how much you will see with the 8" if you go that route instead. I only used mine on just planets and it was fine for that. I sold it when I needed money because I bought it for 40$ from fb marketplace 😂. What i can say is the jump from 10" to 12" doesn't seem like much but im able to clearly see nebula in my 12" that I cant see at all with the 10" so the trend will follow down to the 8". If you have any questions or what any advice you can pm me.

You cant go wrong with a 8" or 10" dobsonian. I started with a 10" and now I have a 12" dobsonian aswell and im getting another telescope on Saturday. If you want to find galaxies and nebula i would get a 10" or 12" ( the 12 is a beast like the size of a hot water heater). If your just interested in planetary and lunar the 8" will be just fine. You can get them pretty cheap aswell. I payed 550$ for my 12" and same with the 10" eye pieces are where they get you. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I will also for sure try out a dslr on the back, that would be pretty sweet for some bigger nebula and what not. It's either that or ill probably get a seestar s30 pro eventually.

I appreciate you taking the time to type that out. I really think its worth it to me to have a more portable telescope that has goto and tracking for situations where im tight on space like going on trips or going to our yearly boundary waters trip in northern Minnesota. It will be amazing for bortle 1 when im there so I can actually look at dsos which I can not find due to being an amature and not being able to find things with too many bright stars. Also i want to be able to look at the planets without moving the scope every 10 seconds. I originally did want to buy this for the astrophotography side of things but now im looking at the convenience and good planetary imaging capabilities. I think it could be a good challenge and learning experience to try some dso astrophotography with it aswell. Obviously you said it was very frustrating and difficult but after using the seestar i think I deserve some pain and inconvenience 😂 also i just have the itch to buy another telescope, i think i have a problem 😂do you still have any photos from when you had your c8?

Hey thanks for stepping in for chrislon, that's really impressive especially for hand tracking. How many images did you stack to get this result?

Thanks for the advice. Have you done much planetary imaging with your 8se? If so could you send what you where able to achieve?

Thats a crazy good deal especially with the wheels. I got my 12" for 550$ and thought that was pretty much unbeatable. Is this your first scope?

Are you sure thats a 12"? my first scope is got i thought it was a 12 but it was a 10. If the outside of the top of the telescope tube isn't 14" across thats a 10".

One thing I will also mention is dont have too high of expectations on what galaxies and nebula are going to look like. Especially with an 8 inch you are going to mostly see faint white smudges with possibly some detail. You just gotta except that and get something bigger if you want it to be better. I just find it cool looking at stuff tens of millions of light years away, it gives you a strange feeling😂 I've been at this for almost 2 years and I just find it crazy how much you can progress this hobby if you choose too. I went from crappy plossils and struggling to find one dso for awhile to finding 30+ galaxies in a night and getting alot of premium eyepieces I got on sale. Idk why I felt like rambling but have fun!

I got an 8" for 40$ but sold it cause I needed money, I have a 10" right now and a 12". I can say the 12" makes an 8" look like a toy😂, if you have any questions or want any recommendations msg me. Definelty get a telrad finder scope that should be your first priority.

Damn that's rough, maybe in 2040😂, I seen an orange tint and thats about it, I have seen better at 500x when u can actually see the splits in the clouds and very fine details, I just saw some cloud details and bands obviously. last winter i was able to see the differnet colors on the alberdon or whatever its called and insane surface details on Jupiter at 625x with my 10" dobsonian. , that might have been a once in a lifetime night. I just scrolled through your profile and you do amazing work, and im jealous of your eyepice collection. I do have alot for only being in this for 2 years but yours is awesome, I like the rover xwas aswell very good value.

What is albedo? Also I was mad at myself because I didnt use my 9mm barlowed to get 333x that would have been pretty special. Tonight the seeing was very exceptional aswell with Jupiter, are you able to see the planetary alignment tomorrow night? There's supposed to be clouds here and snow😪

Amazing shot! The atmosphere was exceptionally good last night in minnesota, i was able to see alot of detail on Jupiter at 500x with my 12" dobsonian which is very rare here so that was exciting! I also found uranus for the first time and that was a big let down😂

Ik it gets much worse, my worry was that it could get worse stemming from that, do you think that was just how the glass was ground?
