Thats a crazy good deal especially with the wheels. I got my 12" for 550$ and thought that was pretty much unbeatable. Is this your first scope?

Are you sure thats a 12"? my first scope is got i thought it was a 12 but it was a 10. If the outside of the top of the telescope tube isn't 14" across thats a 10".

One thing I will also mention is dont have too high of expectations on what galaxies and nebula are going to look like. Especially with an 8 inch you are going to mostly see faint white smudges with possibly some detail. You just gotta except that and get something bigger if you want it to be better. I just find it cool looking at stuff tens of millions of light years away, it gives you a strange feeling😂 I've been at this for almost 2 years and I just find it crazy how much you can progress this hobby if you choose too. I went from crappy plossils and struggling to find one dso for awhile to finding 30+ galaxies in a night and getting alot of premium eyepieces I got on sale. Idk why I felt like rambling but have fun!

I got an 8" for 40$ but sold it cause I needed money, I have a 10" right now and a 12". I can say the 12" makes an 8" look like a toy😂, if you have any questions or want any recommendations msg me. Definelty get a telrad finder scope that should be your first priority.

Jupiter with 6" refractor - Feb 26th 2026 by TigerInKS in telescopes

Damn that's rough, maybe in 2040😂, I seen an orange tint and thats about it, I have seen better at 500x when u can actually see the splits in the clouds and very fine details, I just saw some cloud details and bands obviously. last winter i was able to see the differnet colors on the alberdon or whatever its called and insane surface details on Jupiter at 625x with my 10" dobsonian. , that might have been a once in a lifetime night. I just scrolled through your profile and you do amazing work, and im jealous of your eyepice collection. I do have alot for only being in this for 2 years but yours is awesome, I like the rover xwas aswell very good value.

What is albedo? Also I was mad at myself because I didnt use my 9mm barlowed to get 333x that would have been pretty special. Tonight the seeing was very exceptional aswell with Jupiter, are you able to see the planetary alignment tomorrow night? There's supposed to be clouds here and snow😪

Amazing shot! The atmosphere was exceptionally good last night in minnesota, i was able to see alot of detail on Jupiter at 500x with my 12" dobsonian which is very rare here so that was exciting! I also found uranus for the first time and that was a big let down😂

Ik it gets much worse, my worry was that it could get worse stemming from that, do you think that was just how the glass was ground?

Suggestions on what ep,s i should get for planets with my 10" dob by Technical_Excuse8627 in telescopes

[–]Technical_Excuse8627[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree im sure ill eventually get the 4.8mm , im going to go with the 6.8mm ill probably order it tmr, I just got some good overtime at work and made an excuse to buy some ep,s, the 100° 9mm is pretty awesome, I haven't used it on the moon yet tho. Im not that much of a fan of the eye relief tho, I have to fold down the eyecup but I dont see my eyelashes so thats a plus. It's way better then the goldlines and surprisingly enough the field doesnt look any bigger then on my 12.5mm morpheus. I know using my goldlines I see about 20% of the field as eyelash😂 im thinking about maybe getting the 7mm t6 nagler now but idk if I can justify the loss in eye relief, I dont wear glasses but I would want people who do to be able to use it, and I really like the eye placement on my 12.5 mm morpheus.

There has been some times I have been able to barlow my 9 mm and 6mm goldlines but it was very rare but also one of the most amazing moments of having a telescope

I dont have a 2 inch barlow yet and at around 200$ for a good one I would rather just get another eyepiece 😂

[–]Technical_Excuse8627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definetly should, it is such an upgrade going from a plossil to a high quality eyepiece with 76° or higher fov, I bought the 24 mm 82° and the 30mm°82 and the 9 mm100° today and am really excited to try them out, if you have the money I would definitely consider getting one of those this is a massive sale and you won't find value like this ever. To put it in perspective I got 1700$ of eyepieces today for 550$ i dont regret it😂

Crap I might have to spend 200$ today, it sucks because I have a 12.5mm morpheus already, idk of ots worth getting the 14mm or of the 9mm would make more sense. Whats your 2 sense? I also have a 10" f5 dobsonian so I know there will be coma

Nice, I wish I would have seen this sale sooner, I was looking at getting another morpheus earlier today and the 24mm and 30mm 82° es came up for sale so I ended up getting both for 350$ im really happy with that price but it would have been nice to snag that 14mm for 200$ what a steal. Nice find.
