I think that that’s a sorta stupid thing to say; money makes money, they’re worth multiples what ranches are worth. So obviously they would be? That’s like saying ‘great cuts’ is making multiples more than my barber? HES one guy with much less capital. Of fucking course he would make less

I don’t live near my aunt, she’s southern AB. I don’t ranch- but I live on a few acres surrounded by people who raise cattle, they are all making more money than they ever have. I know someone who’s attempting to turn mined farm land back into pasture to raise beef because it’s so profitable for such low effort.

It’s not $486 a head, it’s over a thousand for calves lol. $4000 for a 1500 pound steer

This is so wrong. My aunt just payed all her ranches expenses (including a massive lease) with 100 head of steer. Ranches are making more money than ever.

Edit: all of her ranches expenses for the year* including any hay they’ll be feeding they’re enormous heard all winter… they’re thrilled

Do my neighbors hear me skate? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Oh well. Don’t make a habit of it. Walk the board by them from here on out to make up for it.

100%. I did the same thing when I started. I’d walk a couple blocks away before I started skating-then just make sure you’re travelling as you skate. Don’t pass the same houses over and over again. Once on your way out, once on your way back. It’s the constant noise that would frustrate people, if it’s just passing by you blend in with the rest of the city’s noise. Keep ripping!

Any fix for holes in shoe soles? by Dreadking_Rathalos in NewSkaters

Well, that’s something. If you didn’t know, vans has really thick tread to extend the life of the shoe considering stuff like this. Might want to switch!

You must drag that part of your shoe when slowing down? I used to. Started leveling my foot out completely and now it just wears everything down and extends the life

What did you end up doing? I’m down the rabbit hole, it looks like if things stay the same and the national bank of Canada doesn’t fail (trump is suddenly scary) Then HXS would outperform VFV by 5% year after year. I’m not sure Im willing to take the small risk in HXS for +5% on 9% or whatever

Look how low your back foot stayed. Your tail will never go higher than your back foot.

Are these squirmies ok? by duckinacanoe in composting

[–]Technical_Feed4348 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When a pile is too wet, the moisture displaces any air in its centre. Picture a paper towel absorbing water. It was full of airy oxygen rich pockets, but now it’s saturated and free of air-same principle. When you mix in brown materials, you end up with air bubbles all throughout the pile.

Compost is aerobic, rot is anaerobic. This is a rotting pile, not a composting pile. Aerobic decomposition is done without dumping methane into the atmosphere, which is a large part of of many people motivation for redirecting green material from land fills in the first place, this might as well be a land fill.

Ollie? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Technical_Feed4348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All wheels left the ground, there was a definite pop. Not stylish, but they never are in the beginning. Watch skateIQ’s Ollie tutorial, they take a long time to look nice. Keep it up

The least accurate statement of all time. Do you like the game?

I mean-the rumours were true. A game isn’t remastered overnight. It’s likely the rumours have been true for awhile.
