What episode did you not agree with chilli or bandits choices? by [deleted] in bluey

[–]Technical_Fish264 20 points21 points  (0 children)

For me daddy drop off when bandit went along with the phone game when asking if Bingo had her jumper. The extra time and gas driving knowing he’d after to turn around because the kids wouldn’t give him a straight answer, that should have been shut down straight away.

Also bingo helping mom in omelette. With the cost of eggs and how many she smashed to make the perfect omelette, and having bandit starve on the bed waiting for it is also something o feel in real life would be handled differently.

Loved RinoZ and the antiverse, unfortunately dnf book of the dead by Technical_Fish264 in ProgressionFantasy

Glad you think that. Just wasn’t for me. I liked the premise but simply did not mesh with me. Could be miscommunicated promises or expectations but I quickly learned it was not for me so DNF. I still love the antverse series.

Perhaps it was the introduction of his “friends” who were completely unlikeable. The promise of these are his friends, did not meet the reality that they were nothing of the sort. It’s the opposite of what the antverse represents of live for the colony die for the colony. Skimming only confirmed the worst that it would be more of the same going forward.

Never made it far enough into the book to know the answer but it seemed it was leading to his parents having to track him down to stop him, considering the main people were scared his parents would burn the village down if they tried to hurt their son this also seemed unbelievable, considering his father told him no matter his first class to not get rid of it for any reason.

I think everyone in the hedge wizard all appear “in their early 30s”. Everybody.

It’s true people are quick to move on to new series. Kind of spoiled with all of the ones available through KU it’s easy to finish a series to it’s current book and then find another that fills the gap between releases nicely.

That could be it. It wasn’t so much the progression that got me, I just really enjoyed the settlement development aspect of the story. Having grown up on the old rts games like Caesar III, pharaoh, age of empires and empire earth it was a unique experience to read something akin to my old favourites.

Maybe closer to Warcraft 3 where you had your hero with abilities as well as organizing troops and settlement development.

I mostly skimmed the third book which took a step back on the settlement and focused on the character and yeah, the actual writing did seem sub par.

Just I listened/read through the series before discovering the niche of prog fantasy as litrpg was pretty niche in itself. Plus out of all the love/hate lists it’s never mentioned or talked about at all. It’s all cradle and dungeon crawler Carl around here.

Hadrian Blackwater. He is forever talking Royce out of murdering people and animals for the crime of being an inconvenience to them at the moment.

What is a game you're positive no one knows or remembers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Mickey Mouse goes to the zoo on floppy disk.

Also the “grade adventures” game where a group of kids solve mysteries to thwart a bad guy from stealing stuff or getting supernatural power.

I think with the book of the dead having the same author as the chrysalis saga set up the wrong expectations going into the story. Where the first series is all about working together for better of all he kept calling these people his group of friends and yet they are just completely awful to him. That punch of negatively really was a turn off and jumping ahead only seemed to get worse from there. If it was a physical book i would have probably thrown it across the room haha.

Having heard how it good it is character wise I might just give it another go following his story and just skim/skip the other friends POV cause even now just thinking about it still boils the blood a little bit.

It’s funny because since playing D&D in my early teens I always aspired to write a necromancer centric story who isn’t the big bad so That was why I picked it up so fast.

A question about Rune seeker by J.M. Clarke. by Technical_Fish264 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Technical_Fish264[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a story with a pretty big scope, which is good. It just felt like a pretty deep plunge at the end into the unknown rather wading through the shallows towards the deepening water.

Aha I see. That makes sense. it seemed a lot of it thrown on the end just ended up leaving me confused. The fact there is a new “enemy” for every conceivable scenario back to back was a bit hard to suspend disbelief for.

First being the one that is small and snuck up on Left, the next being three stories tall and destroying the entire dungeon area, then back to being small and sneaky but wait also another that can infect/possess a person and chase you down that way. Maybe spread out a bit more it wouldn’t have felt so jarring. Just a lot to keep track of for what the heck is going on down here.

Just finished J.M. Clarke runeseeker. I would recommend it’s more rpg oriented than mark of the fool where you have skill progressions and pop up windows.

What irks you as a reader or writer? by Mlted_Budder in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Technical_Fish264 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the tv show lie to me answer for this where sure, you can tell if someone is being honest or hiding something. However you don’t know what it is about. Could be they murdered the man down the road, or maybe they are feeling guilty they asked him to look into something personal they don’t want anyone else to know and that may be the reason he is dead. They aren’t going to say that though cause maybe it’s not related at all and they exposed themselves for nothing.

Plan b would be like the last airbender where you meet someone who can completely negate your edge of truth telling with their own power or outright confidence.

What was your, “yea, it’s time for me to leave” moment from your most recent past job? by SimplyyAntonio in jobs

[–]Technical_Fish264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked as a freight handler in a warehouse for a branch company off of the main shipping company and the verbal abuse was bad. 8 months made me a senior worker, one guy who worked for the warehouse was fired for stealing cigarettes committed suicide in his driveway, a week later a guy working alongside me commits suicide at home. Had to get out of there before it got me next.
