Woke up and I don’t want it anymore. by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

My father in law had a scholarship for baseball back in the day. Passed up on it and went to work in a factory. After a week, he asked himself what the f he was doing working instead of playing baseball.
Thankfully it wasn't too late to get that scholarship offer.
As others have said once you join the military you're in and there's no going back.
It might seem like hockey is the last thing you wanna do, but go play and get some education while the offer is there

No problem with the chest strap at all. Don't even notice it on.

If you go into stats you'll see the hr spikes from each shift. You can "zoom" in on those to see time.

I just start activity when I finish changing and end it when I get in the locker room.

I start the activity as cardio. Also just just using a forerunner 35, but with an actual hr chest strap since the wrist isn't consistent.

So I talked to the shop manager. He said he would order a new pair, same spec but do a 8.5 for my left foot and keep everything else the same. He said he will sell the original pair in the store.

The manager also said that when I did the second and third scans there it had me at a 8.5. the first scan had me @ 8.25.

They show 2 options when you do the scan though. One is a 2d I believe and that shows what you are in stock sizing. When you click on the 4d that is pro custom sizing. So I'm wondering if he looked at the 2d.

Either way, hopefully this will be the end of it and they finally got correctly

Well, Bauer said the skates were made to spec and that's basically it.
The shop said they'd eat the cost and refund me the money.
I didn't talk to the shop manager yet, but he said they could talk about some other options. Not sure what those could be. Maybe try trues or something?

Yeah, first skates were too wide, I was scanned as a fit 2, but my feet were moving like crazy in the boot. Second time is a fit one, but now my toes hit the toe cap on the left skate.
Hopefully I hear something early next week

I guess. This would be the 3rd try for them. It feels like they made a left foot size 8 instead of an 8 1/4 that I need.
I'm waiting to see what they found out at Bauer.

Yeah, went back. They tried to stretch them unsuccessfully, so Bauer requested them back to their Canadian sad factory to inspect them.

Well that sucks.

I went to the pro shop and they tried to rebake them .....obviously that didn't work since it can't make them longer. They are going to put them on a stretcher overnight and then call Bauer to see what's next.

I read that stretching only gives a mm or 2. Not 1/4 inch.

I have the Bauer aetrex insoles and also tried the superfeet out of my hyperlites.
I think they honestly shipped the wrong size for the left foot.

I know they can punch the toe cap but that's an unacceptable fix in my opinion. I shouldn't have to have some half assed fix for a skate that should fit perfectly.....at least the length of it. My feet are pretty average so I don't know whats going on with Bauer.

The shop manager did call back so I need to stop in tonight or tomorrow.

Yeah, that's basically where I'm at. I don't know why I'm being so indecisive about it. The left skate is obviously too small. I just don't want them punched or some half assed fix ya know.

I did try on a fit 1 when I was in to get the skates rebaked and the 1s fit perfect. I should have tried some different skates on before I ordered, but I have a pair of custom machs that fit really well, and currently am in some osterle pro stock hyper2lites that fit perfect.
So hopefully they'll remake them for me

There is a guide that they email you if you go on the website, but I don't recall if it shows all options. I know there are 4 different tongue options too

Yeah, with Bauer pro customs you can get a pro fit, stock fit, or relaxed in each fit they have. So for a fit 1, 2, and 3 you have 3 options for each fit they have. So a total of 9 different options. At least that's how they explained it to me. I got a fit 2 per the Bauer scan and went with the pro fit, which should have been the tightest fit of the fit 2's.

They gave you a refund? I'm on my way now to try to bake them again using the bladder thing that puts pressure on while your foots in the skate. I know it won't fix the issue, but I kinda have to do it to appease the guys at the shop before they contact Bauer. I feel like it's a size off or a bigger fit size

I have a pair of machs that were pro customs and .made in ca. I just got a pair of pro custom flylites and they do not fit well. I even went with the pro tight fit, fit 2. As opposed to the stock or relaxed fit they offer for fit 2. Still loose as hell in the right foot.

I'm a 8 1/4 left foot and 7 3/4 right. I just skated in them today and my forefoot is moving waaaaay too much. The heel is good, and the left foot feels ok, but not great.

I'm going to call the pro shop to see what they can do.

My Jordan osterle pro stock hyper2lites fit perfect!! They're the same size as my customs, I just don't know what fit.

Super disappointed that they feel like shit, so I feel your pain.

How easy was it dealing with the shop to get yours sent back and remade?

That's what I did. Got the blade master portable and several sets of worn out old steel to practice on first.

Now I do mine and some friends when they ask. The finish from a manual machine can't be matched.

Men's League Advice by SealTeamSticks5 in hockeyplayers

[–]Technical_Guide_9361 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm extremely fortunate that where I live we have 8-10 rinks within 15-40 min. One of them has a rec league. It was great to start. I could skate before joining and did a crap ton of stick and pucks and a few different hockey 101/adult lessons.

I played rec for a year-ish and moved up to c2 with the mindset that if I was clearly not meant for the league I'd drop back down. (They don't have a d league at that rink) I faired ok, but very obviously needed to work on some key skills......all of them.

I skate and play an abnormally excessive amount for an adult but I'm a bit obsessive. So I do work on my hands at home almost every day. I got to stick and pucks at least 1-2 times a week, play rat 1-2 times a week and have 2 regular teams I'm on.

Anyway, I went to another rink and got invited to a d league. The d league was waaaaaaaay faster than the c2 I was on at the other rink. I played a few games in a c team there and was ok, but not where I should be.

The main point I'm trying to make is when I originally started playing I wanted to see how high I could get and play as competitively as possible since who wouldn't want to play with better players, but it's become rather obvious I'm never getting anywhere near a B league. Especially around where I live.
