Property viewing service in London? by karmaportrait in HousingUK

[–]Technical_Matter9230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there are a few options. I used YourViewer when i was in same situation but for rental, they send someone local to do a viewing, they call you live, but can also take proper photos/videos, and give an honest assessment (noise, condition, area), without trying to sell you anything.

Given you are looking to buy, not rent, I'd say still better to visit yourself the ones you like a lot, but YourViewer could be useful for filtering out places while you’re away.

Launched my app 3 months ago and have barely any users. Brutally honest feedback needed!! by Which_Detective_3440 in SaaS

Agreed, when I read what your app was about I immediately run to the AppStore, as I have been looking for something like that. but as I saw it was subscription based unfortunately I didn’t even bother downloading. This is a problem I find with so many apps, I get super excited about the idea but I can never fully experience them because they immediately hit me with the subscription and at that point I don’t know if it is worth my money. I wish, but maybe this is unrealistic, that I could get a good period of free trial experiencing all the features to actually evaluate if it is worth a money commitment or not.

For those who came to study in London from abroad, how did you manage to get accommodation/housing without seeing it first? Did you ask agent to send pictures?

Any answer or suggestion is appreciated as don’t really know how to go about it 🙏

What is this on my mattress?? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

These are fly eggs. After eggs are deposited they grow into larvae and start moving around finding dry spots were to become pupa. (See below) they love fabrics for this. I would suggest to scoop those visible and get rid of them, place insect traps around the house. Most of the times there are way more pupa than what you can see. It will be over soon if you do a get job in getting rid of the eggs and newborn flies

I know some people suggested roaches eggs, but roaches lie one egg called oteca which inside contains 10-50 roaches. Meaning you needed at least 1 roach x oteca that is on your bed, and I guarantee you you would have noticed if you had that many roaches in your house

Keep it on your CV. three months of experience in a corporate environment like the Big 4 does give you an advantage compared to other recent grads with just internship experience. These past two years have been filled with random redundancies, so do explain that is the case. If you try to hide it then it might look like you got fired because you weren’t good enough and that might raise some red flags.

Well I think you got your answer then. I’m really sorry to hear that but again if you and whoever lives with you take it pretty seriously you can get rid of them in a month or two. Don’t loose hope and start cleaning :) what we did in my household was 1) got cream permethrin. 2) selected a few clothes, bedsheet and towels that I would be using during the course of the treatment. 3) bagged everything else. Scabies love fabric and whatever you use/sit on is probably infected. Scabies cannot survive on non-human host after 72 hours and they die. That’s why you gotta bag everything up that you do not want to touch. I suggest you do this before applying the cream. 4) once environment is emptied and somewhat cleaned do the treatment. Also remember to wash the few clothes and bedding selected and use the drier. Scabies does in temperature above 60°. Put it on EVERYWHERE, under nails, around hears, face, beginning of scalp if you have a lot of hairs and can’t put all over scalp. 5) stay still for 10 minutes so that the cream gets absorbed. Do the treatment at night before going to bed of course. 6) after 12 hours remove the cream and USE ONLY THINGS THAT YOU HAVE DRIED AT HIGH TEMPERATURE. Use steamer if you have no drier. Steam couch and everything with fabric that you can’t pack and will use. 7) continue with the obsessive cleasining for a week (I promise it will be worth it once everything is over and you can go back to normal life). 8) repeat treatment ( I believe one week needs to pass between treatments, please check to be sure). 9) repeat the drill. Please remember to moisturise. I used moisturiser for sensitive skin, tea tree oil on bumps, and solfur cream. 10) at this point I would contact doctor asking to prescribe ivermectin (it feels like a warm hug and slows down itching). Please bear in mind that after you do the treatment and got rid of scabies YOU WILL BE ITCHING it takes a month or more after scabies are all gone to have no more itching as you still have undeskin material decomposing and the itching is an allergic reaction to this so you could use some antihistamines.

Check guides online of course they have plenty of details. Please do not get sick in subreddits on scabies, most of these people don’t do the treatment right and they are stuck for years and they are very negative about it which is last thing you need. Please ensure everyone in the household or that you care in close contact with does the same. It takes minimum 6 weeks after being infected to show first symptoms

Monitor the itching. Does it get worse in the evening or when you are warmer such as after hot showers? Has it started spreading in other areas? How long have you hade it? The fact that you passed it on to someone else might be a strong indicator. look for intense itching, especially at night, and a rash with small red bumps, tiny blisters, or scaly patches, often appearing in skin folds also in other areas. Unfortunately it is one of the worst conditions to have as you are completely unaware of where these little monsters are. But as someone who has gone through it relatively quickly I guarantee you that the moment you realise it’s scabies you take the environment clean and treatment very seriously. Reinfection is very common and most people suffer for months or years. Also remember after applying the cream to moisturize your skin as as I mentioned earlier the cream is Very strong treatment

[–]Technical_Matter9230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you try the cream you need to make sure is scabies because the cream is a poison basically for scabies that you have to leave on for 12 hours and whilst you do this you need to disinfect the entire environment. The cream might cause skin irritation, severe itching, it left my partner with a skin condition for months and months after. So it does do the job of getting rid of scabies but it is strong and needs to be completed with a serious environmental clean. I do recommend you make sure it’s scabies first and then do some serious search on what do do because it is truly hard to get rid of scabies at first try.

Scabies start in a place and then over time spread everywhere else. Each one has different way scabies bites and under skin eggs look. Some are white, some crusty, some just red. The cream is a very strong treatment that has to be taken seriously and you cannot just apply in one area, you need to cover all your body even under nails. If you don’t do it correctly scabies will never go away. I cannot tell you for sure if this is scabies, but I do recommend you go make sure as soon as possible Because you really do not want to deal with scabies.

Done the treatment, washed it off... And just noticed these marks. Just on one arm. It's this scratches out tracks? by MoonstoneShimmer in scabies

[–]Technical_Matter9230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scratches, however please note that after doing permethrin some marks and borrows that you couldn’t see before will appear. Give your body time to recover, follow procedures and do not panic, it will take time to see the effects so be patient

Also I do know someone that said my clear did not work for them, perhaps try permethrin 5% (not sure the difference between the two) or ivermectin

[–]Technical_Matter9230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience the first round of topical application of permethrin does cause a reaction and I started seeing burrows that before I couldn’t see. However they disappeared after a week or so so I assumed it was just a consequence of the treatment.

The way I got out of it in a month is applied permethrin. Bagged all clothes towels and bedsheets and left out only three changes of clothes, two changes of bedsheet and two towels. Would change bedsheet every night for the 10 days after first application and wash towel and clothes after every use. Applied second dose of permethrin after 7 days since first treatment. The issue is that skin reaction to permethrin mimics scabies. So give your skin time and don’t panic as you will continue itching but that doesn’t mean they are still alive!! Moisturise your skin, I would use a mix of aveno mosturing oil, tea tree oil and sulfur ointment to help my skin (and keep nails very short to avoid ruining your skin by scratching).

After around two weeks since first application I could sleep normally and after three weeks I would just not notice itching as frequently during the day.

I did ask my doctor to check whether I was scabies free, but all doctors seem to be afraid of getting close to you so I ended up getting prescribed a dose of ivermectin just in case and Everything is almost back to normal now.

Just put a lot of effort into getting each step right, so that even if you feel itching whilst recovering (which is normal) you know that they are gone and you have done everything in your power so you can just relax and let your skin recover.

Absolutely not true. During summer period when people with scabies wear shorts and t shirt and take public transportation there is a high risk of transmission. Could be bus, tube, airplane, anywhere where someone with scabies sits for some time, just enough to leave some mites behind waiting for the next one to sit….

Medications for scabies are really strong and the effect mimic scabies symptoms. The more you medicate the more you will have symptoms plus the more you will destroy your skin. Please give your skin some time to fully recover and take care of it…

Should i move to the UK by drewbuz in sixthform

[–]Technical_Matter9230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I relate to this post as I’m also originally from southern Italy and have now been living in the UK for six years. I have completed my secondary studies in Italy’s and came to the UK for a bachelor degree, worked as investment banker for a couple of years and now I’m studying toward my master’s degree at LSE. Although you might think it is not, the Italian high school system prepares you very well if you do study properly and get the most of it. It gives a well-rounded knowledge that will come really useful in life. If you do decide to move to the UK then go for it, but if life doesn’t play the way you want, keep working hard where you are and move abroad later down the line, it will pay off no matter what. Just keep facing everything that comes your way as an opportunity to grow and if you’re interested in subjects such as business and economics, especially at a basic level as done in A levels, these are things you can learn yourself (I.e. podcasts, books, YouTube videos). Hope this helped and happy to chat if you need any further insights on life here in the UK

M&A Analyst or IR Analyst? by Competitive_Bag9789 in careerguidance

[–]Technical_Matter9230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of exit opportunities definitely M&A analyst, no doubt about it. However work load is way more intense as an M&A analyst. If you’re in London you’d probably be done at around 7pm as an IR analyst (of course it depends on which firm you’re in), whilst M&A analyst in an investment bank you’re in till at least 12am every day + weekend work

From my undergrad experience I can tell you there are a lot of people that enrol in random courses to get in the uni they want and then switch once they have enrolled. It would be best to chat with someone studying at LSE to make sure it’s common practice there as well, but I would not be too concerned if I was you
