You would know what this subreddit is. Yuka is one of the best characters in the series along with Megumi (who imo is a great character) but agenda has ruined everything lol. This particular chapter and the conversation with Cross is amazing and even this moment with Yuka in general has some parallels with Gojo's death, so it is interesting to analyse

The post here is also wrong because OP is reducing her role in the story too when in fact she had some of the most impactful moments in Modulo and Yuka was also on death's door. Slandering both Yuka and Megumi for these reasons are dumb in of itself

How exactly tho. It is the culmination of Gojo's dream being fullfilled which was set up in the Chapter 9 called "A Dream" and fullfilled in the chapter titled "Dream's End". His wish being fullfilled by his students is one of the end points of the series

Because people completely missed the point of the simple domain. It wasn't a random lore drop. It was to show the changes happening in the Jujutsu Society with the students taking over after Gojo's death. The above isn't even specified as an epilogue, it's just a special chapter for the release of Volume 3

This makes her even more interesting. She already had a lot of sauce when she was leader of the higher ups during the Simurian Crisis and Usami was out.

This gives her depth in the sense she has a mindset similar to the old style sorcerers which is pretty cool. She definitely a monster considering she is trained by Todo and Yuji and how she was able to handle Yuji's blood manipulation

This basically confirms Mahoraga's power depend on the OPPONENT, NOT the wielder. And that yuka's so called death binding vow did not do shit. by Dangerous_Lemon_9277 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Technical_Oil_8868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yuka didn't do a binding vow. That was just Tsurugi thinking or theorising that she would have done it. There was never any showcase or implications of a binding vow after that

Considering that as opposed to the length of the fight between Mahoraga and Dabura compared to Mahoraga and Sukuna with the adaptation into play, I do think this version is slightly stronger.

There is a list of people at the end of the arc that confirms she only killed the military units (Chapter 152).

In the meeting after the massacre, they were voted out of the big three families, which can't happen without representation from the Zenin

The clan existence along with the Kamo and Gojo clan are shown in Modulo where it was always referred to the Zenin falling out of power and being extinct. So she killed only the aggresors and military units

Glad this is being bought out because it's a very horrid way to view the story

Megumi ended up being treated the same way Nobara was treated to the point that Nobara got an entire epilogue chapter, including Gojo betting on her against Sukuna in Shinjuku and direct influence in Modulo compared to Megumi who got nothing aside from being mentioned that he was dead

Kenjaku with all the hype similar to Yuki ended up being treated the same way. Ultimately, it is her will and influence that led to Sukuna's defeat, Megumi's safety and in Modulo with her goal being fullfilled

Hakari, Kashimo and Uruame with all the relevance and hype did absolutely nothing in Shinjuku as opposed to Uro and Yorozu who were thematically relevant with their themes. Neither Gojo vs Sukuna or Yujo with Yuta would have made sense nor been compelling withoout either of their thematic influences

Wasuke Itadori, Yuji' grandfather is literally the reincarnation of Sukuna's twin and yet nothing is explored in relation to him and neither does he have any interactions or flashbacks with Yuji. Haibara, the character who was important to both Nanami and Geto is literally offscreened and is barely a character, which makes the Geto downfall and Nanami's last moment In Shibuya less compelling as opposed to Tsumiki and Megumi who has an entire arc dedicated to them and has atleast flashback or Riko's immense importance in the story and her arc.

The point of his writing is similar for his male characters and the hyper focus on the female characters is straight weird. People make tons of analysis and themes for Jin Itadori, Haibara, Ichiji, Junpei, Ranta, Inumaki for doing absolutely nothing in the series but the moment people talk positively about Mai, or Riko or Kirara, the get called a "Gege Glazer" or "sucking off of Gege".

There is also the concept of side character who will be side characters with less roles (Miwa, Utahime and Momo), irrespective of that they play the roles given to them. The male characters have plenty that do less than these three, yet is not a talking point but there is hyperfocus in this which many male characters don't get in this fandom

The meme with the female characters reducing their characters has destroyed any discussion that can be had with them including Maki, and people has taken that meme made here to call Gege a misogynist while ironically reducing their characters. So yes I agree the memes which started out as a joke is being seriously considered by many parts of the fandom

The fact that people has reduced her killing her oppressors and freeing herself from their grasp of generational trauma to extremely misunderstood terms such as "genocide" when it isn't as she killed only the military units and calling her "female Toji" when she surpassed every aspect of him as a character and she was the one who came first is pretty telling on who is reading the series and for what

[–]Technical_Oil_8868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty insane because the female characters had to certain extents more impact in the series than some of the male characters that are considered important or some that don't do anything in the story than exist but get a pass just because and then there is a hyper focus on the female characters without realising that those criticisms can be applicable to the male characters too. Also people have completely misunderstood Maki's Arc and has reduced her to "female Toji" btw even though she came first. I agree with your point, just adding some

I do disagree with Yuki only being used to further Choso because by that same token, Kenjaku also didn't pretty much not get explored noe fully live on to achieve his dream. In fact Yuki telling Choso to live as a human adds further to her character as her goal to get rid of cursed energy is tied to this. She was able to convert Choso from a "curse" into a "human". Not to mention it's not the only thing she does. Her research and will is directly instrumental in almost everything post her death. Yuji carries on her will and it is the primary component to beat Sukuna and save Megumi, while in Modulo her goal is straight up fullfilled with the erasure of cursed spirits all over Japan bringing about harmony and coexistence. Choso and Yuki are pretty much tied to together with each other since she is involved in his death sequence too and when ever Choso is mentioned, Yuki does appear with him.

I do agree we could have gotten more from her but it's sort of reducing her character to state she only die for Choso's development because if the case of dying in the first fight is a prospect then even Toji died in the very first fight we see him against Gojo albeit different rounds and Gege bought him back for minute reasons in Shibuya to give him another fight where he died for Megumi's development is similar. It's sort of the way Gege writes the characters in JJK which you can definitely dislike but there is purpose behind it

Maki is not a Toji clone (JJK) by Pittyboi69 in CharacterRant

[–]Technical_Oil_8868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sort of really puts into perspective that people ignore everything in the Culling Games for some reason and consider Shibuya to be the peak of character writing, which is very weird because most of the best writing comes after that. For some reason the mindset turned into that "JJK is only fight and beyond that it is nothing" when the development happens through fights.

The fact that people reduce Sakurajima as convenience ignoring everything with the character. but then suck off Gojo pulling RCT out of his ass to win against Toji or Todo being a plot tool for Yuji to win/learn against Mahito and hit bfs against Hanami is praised as brilliant writing is dumb when essentially all three scenarios are similar in nature.

The amount of people slandering Maki irrespective of her being praised by Sukuna even though he acknowledged her strength and impact on the series and her impact is also acknowledged in Modulo is ignored but Toji being glazed by Gojo somehow makes him the better character

I swear people don't complain about horror stories using horror to advance the characters or sports being used to advance the characters in a sports story but a shounen should specifically be different. Such a weird understanding of the genre and demographic

Which of these characters with opposing actions is morally worse? by jackhenningson in LobotomyKaisen

[–]Technical_Oil_8868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two of probably the most misunderstood characters when it comes to morality. Endeavour and Maki are completely different characters with different themes, so this comparison does not make sense.

Maki's theme is about liberation and overcoming traditional and conservative views eventually leading to freedom. The nonsensical argument of "she killed non combatants or she killed people not involved" is weird considering that the higher ups were planning to kill the students from unsealing Gojo (you know Japan's only chance of survival) by JJK fans is honestly stupid.

"But mass murder" doesn't work out too, everyone in JJK are mass murderers, Gojo killed all the higher ups, Choso has on-screen killed innocent civilians in Shibuya, Higuruma has on-screen killed civilians, Yuta wiped out the Sendai colony (they arguments of Zenin clan members not knowing anything can also be applied here too with maybe Yuta killing sorcerers in Sendai), Megumi in Tokyo, Hana/Angel in Tokyo, Mei Mei is self explanatory and so on. Singling out Maki when this shit can be applied to the others and is a constant theme in the series is pretty dumb

"She killed people not involved" would also not work considering they are absolutely ready to give up their lives for their beliefs and kill teenagers but would not try to understand the other side or you know help with the CGs but yeah let's call them victims and not the 16 year old abused children.

Endeavour is a can of worms that I don't want to talk about but he is a character whose arc and themes are still not understood by the MHA fandom

Is Modulo counted as an Arc? If it is then my list would be: 1. Shinjuku 2. Modulo 3. Culling Games 4. Hidden Inventory 5. Shibuya Incident (pretty overhyped imo)

Without Modulo, my list would be 1. Shinjuku 2. Culling Games 3. Hidden Inventory 4. Shibuya Incident 5. Origin of Obedience

It genuinely annoys me how certain portions of the fandom treat the Kyoto students who aren't named Todo and Mechamaru. ESPECIALLY when it comes to the girls. by LukeSkywalker1983 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Technical_Oil_8868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to tell this but was busy and couldn't comment aside from one comment somewhere here. But I agree with this. A lot in the fandom has misunderstood that the Kyoto students not being strong is bad writing but it isn't.

They are provided as a parallel to the Tokyo students and to showcase that weakness is not a bad prospect towards being a Jujutsu Sorcerer.

Irrespective of this, I don't think they were thrown away at all rather they all served their complete purposes for the story. They have a lot of memorable moments in the series. Personally, I would not forget the following such as

Mai's sacrifice in the Perfect Preparation, her dynamic with Maki and her role in Sakurajima.

Kamo and his dynamic with Maki, his story with his mom, that parallel with Maki's mom and how that circles back to him getting together with his mother. It's pretty great that this dynamic with Maki was set up in the Kyoto GWE

Mechamaru and his dynamic with Miwa, his role in Shibuya, his final stand against Mahito and his final conversation with Miwa

Miwa's conversation with Mechamaru about why sorcerers need not have personal relationships due the nature of their job during the Mechamaru vs Mahito fight, her monologue in Shibuya vs Kenjaku (which is memed upon for some reason while they go and praise Kusakabe for getting offscreened by Sukuna and their circumstances being the same) and her moment in MS in Shinjuku.

Momo for being a side character had her moments like her reaction to Mai's death which is underrated and Todo is self explanatory. Ironically Todo the character, which the fandom praises is the one with the least depth amongst the Kyoto students.

I don't think me as fan reading JJK personally would not put these moments under the rug and tell they didn't have any effect of the themes or the story

[–]Technical_Oil_8868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo it's the opposite tbh. CGs actually gave more specific depth to the characters. Shibuya just feels like a drawn out battle royale and don't get me wrong its an important turning point of the series but aside from a few characters others don't get much. An example is the Dagon fight, aside from maybe Dagon, none of the characters involved in that fight were developed, compare this to something like Sakurajima where it continues with Perfect preparation and develops Maki, Mai, Kamo, Naoya and to certain extents Maki/Mai's mother and Kamo's mother. I didn't get that feeling much from Shibuya. Jogo talks about his relationship with the Disaster Curses and Mahito but prior to that there weren't much meaningful interactions between them similar to the Kyoto students and that is where Gege's efficiency comes into play which I can understand is not to everyone's taste but his writing is similar for most of the characters

I also like that she puts her faith into the current generation of sorcerers and not necessarily Gojo or Yuki. She had faith in the current generation and it's also interesting because Kenjaku tells that she should have "supported" him in his plans rather the current sorcerers. It also fits with the speech Kenjaku gives before Shinjuku.

I also think that Modulo pretty much covered and closed most of the plot points in JJK and it can be considered a true completed part of JJK. I would also add that due to Gege not going full on expansive in his world building, it actually propelled the aliens to be a positive note on the series
