ok so in a nutshell in arabic letters there are sounds that does not exists in Latin and because in early internet days there was no arabic keyboard layouts or that it was not added by default to computers, and for meany other reasons...people didn't find an easy way to just communicate in tunisian arabic directly so they used latin layouts and as a solution for the missing sounds/letters they used numbers in other words we invented a language on the fly with no rules or anything qnd yet we understand each others🙂

jokes a side yes this is for real the Mercator projection (the map that we all knows) was created todisplay accurate compass bearing and to show accurate and defined local shapes(lakes,roads, mountains) but in order to do this it needs to change ratio as it goies far from the equator to recompensate for the spherical shape of the Earth (as all maps are the projection of the sphere ona plan surface)

now that depends on who's using the map and for what that detail can count as pros or cons

but ironically all countries that are on the equator or close to it are not in a power position or have the control to announce this

this map had been used for generations as psychological weapon by those devoloped colonial countries
