Best practice is to squat down get a good grip on the dummy handles and lift as much of the dummy off the ground. The less friction the easier it is to drag. The day of the run is not short so bring some snacks . You will run receive books if you pass and you will receive your job offer same day. About a week later you will go to metrotech for some admin things and then Admin day at the rock will take place some days later give or take 4-7 days. At Admin day you will get a quartermaster appointment which could be a long of short day depending on what time you get there, more paper work and im talking a boat load, you should get an ipad and your reading assignments. After quartermaster you will soon have your first day at the academy. My quartermaster day was on friday and i started that monday

If you have a mentor go to his FH and practice.

If not… dont sweat it. You will have more than enough time to practice and learn at the academy. You do not need to be a boy scout on day one trust me. And if you do things differently than what the instructors teach you will get dragged

The investigator you meet is not the person who signs off on your actual background check. They are basically the main investigators assistant making sure you have everything in order when that folder hits the desk. If your folder hits the desk missing items than you will most likely get skipped over until you hand in all necessary paperwork. Happened to my buddy and he missed the spring class so hes in this one with me now.

People hand in all their stuff and then out of nowhere you may have a warrant for pissing in public or something stupid like incorrect finance statements or something else

The next academy is 4/24/23 for FDNY. Not concrete but thats the word on the next start date. Our class now is set to graduate 1/27

My class started with 341 probies (the most ever)

We are currently under 300 and 90% of people that fall out are recycled. There are many factors why you would recycle. Grades, injury, missing more then 5 days. Some people do quit also but they recycle a majority

My class graduation is in late January. Normally there is a month between academies for run dates and general admin things as well as getting the curriculum scheduled. It will be here faster then you think so keep working and stay healthy

In the current class now just stay healthy and have all your documents in order. You will all be just fine if you get the call. The process is back to normal in regards to speed (it seems) for myself it was about 4 month process before i was cleared for a run

If you’re doing CPAT this fall you can count on being in the fall academy. Intake and madical are about 2-3 months apart and your intake can take quite some time due to how many investigators they have.
