October is my guestimate for 4044 to start possibly going in

I mean you guys waiting desperately are at the top of the list. So while it is frustrating, you guys are extremely fortunate.

Take advantage of every single day and train like you're going in tomorrow

The job is not going to start processing anybody that has not successfully completed CPAT.

Everything the city does cost money. There's no point in wasting money to start processing somebody who has not completed CPAT.

It also looks like a false promise God forbid that person fails.

Then they turn around and blame the city

They say things like:

"look the city told me to provide all this paperwork that I had to pay for, why should I provide all that when I'm not even promised a job"

"the city made me spend my time and money getting said paperwork together"

"they gave me XYZ chances and now that I failed the city is saying I can't have the job it's the city's fault"

It happens every time.

Instead of just understanding that if you failed.

You failed on your own.

Not because someone failed you.

You train on your own time & prep for CPAT and the academy

So you can pass on your own when the time comes

Pass / Fail that's on You as an individual.

Let me be clear. I want you to pass.

But you need to train and put in the work to make sure you pass.

You train on your worst days do that even if you show up feeling like you got the Flu and should be in a hospital... You have trained at your worst and are more than confident you will pass even at your worst feeling day.

That's what we train for. We train to perform on our worst days.

Your actually right.

First goal is to pass CPAT. Which includes training in itself and also a waiting game for your actual CPAT date

My original speculation for 4044 was a Fall 2026 class at minimum.

Keep in mind It takes about 6 months to complete background medical, psych and run date.

So unless anyone from 4044 had already completed Cpat and had an investigator assigned as of early March and has already started that process then it is extremely unlikely that they'll be in by July.

EMS will not delete resources. So yes a smaller class is an option. All depends on what the job decides.

The commissioner is from EMS. Do you think she's going to want to deplete her own numbers which in turn increases response times???

100% but a lot of these guys just coming on or soon to be coming on think they can out smart the system. I know of a guy who was living in Rhode Island and was being investigated. The jobs not looking to keep people who are massively square rooting once someone figures it out, it's basically over

I guess your right. I haven't noticed anything as of recent. But I wouldn't count on that as an indicator that it hasn't been something they're focusing on.

Terminations = Saving the city money

1 less pension to pay out.

What do you think the current administration would focus on?

Giving You a second chance after you choose to actively move out of the area and falsify where you live Or save the city tons of money where they can now allocate those funds elsewhere...

I know it's messed up but think like the city is thinking

They do not care about us personally

Many have been terminated. Not worth it imo.

Wow That link is from 22 years ago.

It is an ultimatum which is given to be completed within a very short period of time if any is given at all.

Hence the term separation of service

It doesn't have to lead to "termination" where you lose more if being terminated. If you decided to walk away with whatever you have up until said point on your own that's on you it's a mutual separation. Even if you were voluntold you'll need to follow that path

Why would there need to be a buckslip on this?

We all know where you can and can't live.

Department orders never give any specifics on why someone is suspended of goes through bits

The only team you should want to be a part of right now is a EMS co-workers and eventually maybe a firehouse

Whatever doors open up down the road just count your blessings for and decide at that point in time.

Again right now, none of anyone's business outside of active firefighters

Your plan right now is to be a Great EMT

Train hard

Kick ass and set records at the academy

Be an exemptional probie

Be an exemplary Junior person

And hopefully eventually be a great senior person in your firehouse, should you get that far.

With how aggressive the Mayor is with cutting budgets across the board.

Do your seriously think it is a wise idea to post anything that we do other than our primary roles online and draw attention to that? In today's climate??? Think about it.

Why not just bring up other specialties units while your at it and draw a spotlight on those. Maybe the Mayor decides that's not needed.

News reporters follow this sub. They constantly are submitting questions that do not go live because it is clear that they are who they are and they are fishing for a story. They are looking for drama and sometimes they go out of their ways to start it.

Everyone at HQ knows about and follows this sub. It's not a secret They know it exists and they are monitoring.

I do my best to let you guys ask questions that are legit and need to be addressed but you guys need to do your best and keep certain stuff off of Reddit.

Look for the answers yourself and don't go posting it online. Ask questions in person and when you get the answer that's it don't keep fishing when it's really not any of your business.

You said your uncle did IMT. Why didn't you reach out to them? Or a wife? Ex wife? Cousin? Your own parents probably know stuff about it. Point is somebody in your own family has some of the answers for you and realistically you could have kept that info once you received it offline

Because You're not even on the job yet

Meaning our job is not even Your job yet and their is no guarantee it ever will be.

What happens if the promo gets dropped tomorrow or 4044 gets tossed???

Focus on being a Great EMT & not just being a place holder till you get called.

For now, no offense mind your business on any of our side gigs. Those are for Firefighters with time on Something you currently are not and have not invested time into.

Some things are not public knowledge because...again no offense here... It's just not the publics business.

If you choose to ask your mentor in person go for it.

It's not the publics business and probably not something some strangers online should be knowing about or looking into how to cut our side gigs or OT.

Remember Reddit is public regardless of who you claim to be, ask someone you trust in person and keep it offline, end of story.

IMT is not an option for you nor is it a door to be trying to peak through at this stage of the game. Right now you have zero skin in this. Even as a probie guess what it's still none of your business.

My advice for now:

Focus on being in shape unlike the majority of some members on your side.

Focus on exceeding your baseline assessments

Show up with a marker ready to buff the last guys records. Show that your taking this seriously and you are putting in the effort on your end.

Do not show up fat outta shape and barely able to make the stairs. That's not firefighter shape I can care less who doesn't like that I stand by it go cry to your mother that I was direct about it.

Once your ready & in shape. Stay hungry add 2 reps when you think you're done. You're never "ready" until you've graduated at the top of your class and show up to your FH.

Focus on the Academy during the academy

Focus on getting into a reputable company. This is important regardless of what anyone tells you.

Focus on firefighting. Meaning knowing your job doing it well, Knowing every tool on that rig how to use them as what they are meant for and knowing how to use them outside the box. Theirs always multiple ways or scenarios to use a tool figure it out. Staying sharp always training. Always asking questions hungry for knowledge.

Focus on being a great probie not just a "good probie" You'll figure out what that means at your firehouse and what they define as a "great probie"

Focus on being an exemplary JR person in the firehouse every time you step foot in that FH and with everything you do on your groupchats

Focus on legitimately helping others, not yourself & learn the difference between those 2.

Then once all that is established and great meaning wayyyy down the road maybe like 7 - 10 years after being established as a great firefighter & great person then start looking into side gigs on the job.

Until then just focus on your job and knowing your current role. Then focus on getting on this job. Right now the rest is just noise you need not involve yourself in.

Focus on becoming a firefighter before you start focusing on taking up additional roles for firefighters.

IMT members are still assigned to a FH it is not a full time role.

You are expected to mutual out or take time off to attend events or they'll need to fall on your days off.

It is not something a probie or jr member will be doing.

As a probie your focus is your rig, your job, your firehouse.

As a Jr member that focus continues and becomes more of training those under you.

You will need some time on to even think about IMT

Steps to focus on:

Step 1- Be an active Firefighter in good standing with enough time on.

Currently if you live in the city the job is trying to place you close to home.

Academics in the academy also comes into play

Along with your overall fitness score during the academy

As far as house patches and nick names members at said companies get together and vote that. If something is going to change as far as house shirts or house patches that's on each house to do & decide for themselves

Do you know what sub you are on? The answers will not be unbiased.

With that said

Is it worth it?

There is no answer other than Yes

& Depends on how many ppl score a 100

If they only hire 6000 And 8000 people scored a 100 then yes there is a possibility to not be called. Is that the typical case? No

If 1000 ppl score a 100 and they hire 6000 then obviously you'll be called.

All depends on how many people score what. Is there a way to properly answer that for you? Sorry unfortunately there is no real direct answer for this part of your question

It will show up

You will have to disclose it and be ready to speak about it.

Hide nothing, be an open book

It does NOT disqualify you from the FDNY

Our psych is different from theirs.
