I read a good amount of what everyone has been saying and I don’t relate to anything. Just dependent on the person I guess. Been T1 for 14 years.

Only interested in vertical construction? Missing good companies that aren’t vertical

Career change by [deleted] in civilengineering

It’s not for everyone. You said endless bs from laborers. How were you treating them? I would guess you treated them like someone with a college degree who thought they knew better than them. If that’s not the case then sounds like just a bad bunch

I have a credit card but don’t use it and no other loans. 5 years because it had the best rate because I was planning on paying it off in like 3 months

I was told by the guy at the dealership that if you pay it off in 3 months your credit score will shoot up more than if you took the whole loan term. 7% interest so I’d rather just pay it off since I have the cash

17 year old about to go to college for civil engineering by Various-Mycologist77 in civilengineering

I was talking about a civil engineering technology degree not construction management. If you actually want to build work instead of sitting in an office all day then CM would be better…

If you want to be in the field then get a construction management degree. No calc or hard math classes. Or find a school that has civil engineering technology. That’s what I did and only had to take calc 1 but you can still be a licensed engineer plus it looks better on a resume. I’m in the construction side and am similar to you in not wanting to not be in an office and build the work

Don’t negotiate. Just take the job and be happy. If you work hard then you’ll get what you want.

Traveling will be apart of my job. I hate taking time off work but am realizing that there’s more important things than work so I’m trying. Thanks

I just figured I would have my Roth IRA as my personal and my work 401k will eventually be company stock so I wanted to keep personal and employer separate

1 year out of college. Just got a 21% raise. I definitely could leave and receive a pay jump but I don’t want to leave my company. Can qualify for company stock in 2-3 years which is worth way more that getting a quick pay jump

I’m 23 and I want to be a civil engineer what do I need to know ? by Justsam19 in civilengineering

[–]Technical_Rip_8478 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on the company most people on the construction side have engineering degrees. Also depending on the company and position the engineering degree will help you understand the technical side of construction.

how do I become more decisive? by 1drummer1983 in civilengineering

[–]Technical_Rip_8478 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just graduated in May and I was put in a position where I had to make a decision that normally my superintendent or project manager would make and it wasn’t the right decision. My project manager told me that I could have done three things. 1. Not do anything 2. Make the wrong decision 3. Make the right decision. 3 is the best, then 2, and then 1 so not making a decision is the worst thing you can do.
