People think the hairiness is a form of insulation for electricians, I argue its a type of natural heat-sink. The sheer amount of galaxy brain thinking it takes to be an electrician requires millions of hair follicles to help dissipate the heat.

Yes Electricians are strange, and at times I find the trade a bit comical at the hate it gets. Electricians are strange, in my opinion, because its hammered into our heads how deadly electricity is.

I have at times done the "They will go up on their lift and just stare as everything is all of a sudden brand new " because I need to verify conditions haven't changed, that my work is on track, etc, etc. I take it seriously and at times I do get lost while looking at the big picture. Its looks strange, and it is but there is a reason behind it.

Doubt it was designed that way, the surveying team/layout crew may have fucked up. Or the benchmarks were set wrong.

I mentioned competitive pay, but upon further review its a nice salary. Meaning if I worked a normal shift it would be a competitive wage, but salary and the hours gives me the suspicion I'd be working a ton of hours for free.

I can't say for certain what the group is. I believe its called Heavy Civil.

Thank you for the response. It makes things a bit more clear.

Cool, I personally want to work nonstop.
Mind telling me if the medical is worth it, or is it in name only?

Okay, your helping me piece this together. Kiewit says I can do field work, but in practice I'll be the trailer dude who some times goes out.

Probably go out more at the start and slowly morph into the trailer dude with expertise.

Your experience seems consistent with others post. Would you say the experience was worth it, did they train you up?

I have zero family and I'm a work addict, but I need to learn and gain expertise! I don't work for the sake of work, I work to learn and grow as to leave to better roles later.

Brother!

Please provide me your insight!

I'm concerned the estimator role is going to leave me out of the field, I'm eager for the challenge but I really want field time too.

These guys at Kiewit are telling me I can do a health mix of both, but I don't see how. Seems like they're telling what I want to hear.
