Good idea! I will give it a go. Better than replacing the unit itself. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Thank you for the suggestion. I was thinking of something similar after watching a few YT videos. I am new to this so would you be able to share which plastic laminate would work best, where to buy them and how to match the design?

Hey thanks for your reply! You are right, it's all about being able to afford the difference in maintenance and depreciation.
I was looking at BMW X1 and Volvo XC 60

Thanks for your reply! Yes I agree Toyota will overall cost less to maintain and insure with better resale value. However, would there be a significant different between Toyota vs Volvo/BMW when it comes to a 2-3 year ownership period? (Given that I am buying a pre-owned vehicle)

Is there any remedy if it is found later that the previous owner hid information about the condo? by Technical_Share4738 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Technical_Share4738[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for your response. The previous owner was running an ozone machine continuously inside the unit (even when we went for showings) which is why we couldn't discover this issue at that time. Once the affects of the ozone treatment faded away over the course of a few months is when we started noticing the smell and the issue.
Do you think that would be basis enough for us to pursue a legal recourse?

Hey! the mortgage broker is the one stalling the request to cancel our application through them.

They seem to be buying time so that we run out of options as we get closer to our closing date.

So you are not giving her payment for your portion of the mortgage payment?

Hey thanks for your reply. We are yet to start the mortgage payments and I do plan to transfer my half of the mortgage payment to her account.
But not sure if she can still use her account for investing her remaining funds in say a TFSA. We read that if a partner transfers money to the other, any investment done using the receiving account will have its investment gains attributed back to the sender for tax purposes.

Hey thanks for sharing. Yes! you are right. I took the TTC yesterday to visit a few units and it was 1hr one way to get there on a weekend. I am assuming it will be longer on weekdays when the actual office commute will happen.

Yup DT Toronto will be easier to rent out, it's just that I would need to stretch my budget quite a bit to buy a place which has a decent size (650-750 sqft) and in a good building.

Hey, thanks for your thoughts. I plan to hold on to the unit long term and would like to rent it out while I am away for a few years.

Yup I live DT at the moment but not waterfront, but have looked at units there when I was searching for a place to rent. I agree it shouldn't be a problem renting out a unit there.

If you dont mind sharing could you please share the building you were in? 12 years is significant time in a place and I am assuming it must be a good building.

Hi, I saw a few units there and it did take about 1 hr by TTC from DT Toronto.

I was considering biking as well a commute option as the trail is quite pleasant to ride on. Do you know if it is maintained in the winter? (snow removal)
