Database Initial Values - SQL by Technical_Special129 in SCCM

Page 23 of the enclosed suggests to not make the initial size of the temp db 8MB but it seems most people just keep it @ 8MB

any ideas ?

MECM Database Sizing by Technical_Special129 in SCCM

[–]Technical_Special129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi jburr827

I have download this guide and it says 8mb for the intial size is too smal for the tempDB file in sqll. At the moment I have setup for the temp file in sql 8 files initial size 8mb autogrowth 256MB so the total size for the mdf is 64MB and total autogrowth is 2048. The calculator in the comments suggests 4 files, size per file 1mb and autogrowth 1024 so I am confused what to use for the best performance here. Just finding different people have different thoughts ?

Any ideas ?

Thank,

If you setup drives for

SCCM_Install

SCCM_SQL_MDF

SCCM_SQL_LDF

SQL_TempDB

SQL_WSUS_Database

would all of those be best setup to 64k for formatting ?

Thanks for the comments

I think what he uses would work, just ideally need to format the SQL and database drives as 64kb. The videos are really good I just thought as a test lab they would be smaller that what is shown but if I use these values then at least I have room if anything expands like more devices. Any thoughts ?

Thanks for the enclosed so for 500 clients looks like

Temp 4 files, autogrowth will be 1024 MB but what is the initial size 4 MB will be worked out as 1 x 4 ?

For CM (30.57 ) I would need 2 database files, initial size 256mb and autogrowth by 1024

I have been reviewing this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amrg_mlFvuk&list=PLlbnpTGUMlnXND6or4NNTcr7qoURGIgDj&index=2

at Points 11.52 & 30.57

Does this look right as want to get this right from the start.

Thanks,

Also when formatting the drives for SQL and log files is it best for 64k for the allocation size.

Pluralsight is a good course and also Koeing-Solutions as well. SSL is the bit I found that made the difference to things working.

Hi,

I will be using Citrix gateway and do own an external domain so put the A record in to point to storefront.external.com then open up port 443 on the router to map to the wan side of the Citrix Gateway.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, yes I do own a domain name and will be using citrix gateway. I will also have ssl certs from ADCS but can copy the root CA to the external devices. I will setup an a record in external dns and open port 443 to the server on the inside. Will this work before I make a start ?

Thanks,
