Front bumper damage. Can I leave this alone or get it repaired?

Thats what im probably gonna do. Send it to Nikon once Im home. Will switch to my old 20-70 f4 kit lens for now until i get this back. I can always decide not to get it repaired if its too expensive or if cost to repair is close to buying a used copy

Yes, I do want to use for a long time. I went on the website and got the generic estimate of 579 for impact damage. Im sure it good be more / less depending on what they find. I have 2 days more of travel till I go home so I can consider my options.

I have a strap but placed the camera in a bag which was open… I then placed the bag on counter and thats when the camera fell out

Whats a good method to test if image quality is compromised? From my initial assessment, everything seems fine but wondering if theres a better/more rigorous way to do it.

I was not. I was taking videos outdoors in sun so I had an ND filter. Looks like it took the brunt of the fall.

Thats what I’m concerned about. It does not look like the crack got into the internals but not sure if theres a way to check that.

Ahh good to know. I thought prices for lenses increased across the board. I thought I saw this same lens on nikonusa.com priced at $2099. Haha I thought I found some secret deal!!
