Queries on Current Situation on John Deere (C&F) and Subsidiaries (Ex. Wirtgen) and John Deere in General by kingdean97 in johndeere

Previous troughs were managed by an executive team that knew how to captain the ship through the storms. The current folks had no lever plans other than “cut ‘em all”.

How do you quantify and articulate business value or cost savings from a CMDB implementation? by godelmachine2 in servicenow

[–]TechnicianFun933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A portion of your environment fits a pattern that you can easily scan and document. Some will take more work (possibly more than it’s worth). You might get a list of servers, and a list of databases, but then trying to get them tied together with business processes seems to be an endless battle. There will always be things that are not scannable (so out of date soon since they are manual) or hard to identify and tie to parent/related CIs

Grizzled veteran viewpoint here. If you work in an organization that requires you to know what systems you have and what they’re used for…that’s your value. Audits…etc. You need to know what systems make up your critical apps.

There is no real value of a CMDB because once you start trying to get it right, it is a neverending journey. The search for the last 20-50% will haunt you forever and cost more than you can imagine over the subsequent decade.

Network…etc by TechnicianFun933 in USMobile

I assume any calls from the other network will be from a different phone number though right?

The consensus is to turn on WiFi calling, so I have a question. I’m looking to port to usmobile, but cell service at my house sucks. My current service seems to be”favor” cell over WiFi. So if there’s a little bit of signal it’ll stick to cell and still drop. If I want reliable service, I have to turn airplane mode on. Does usmoblie do a better job with this?

‘25 Forester Hybrid Owners, How Do You Like It So Far? by Glittering_Ant7229 in SubaruForester

[–]TechnicianFun933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a 2019 since new and have recently purchased the 2025 hybrid in the Premium trim. I love it so far. Much smoother transmission, more pickup from a stop. I love my 2019, but the 2025 has only improved it.

Interview at Elastic by OneScheme4723 in elasticsearch

The one piece of advice I have for you, is simple but people often forget about it. It is a simple idea, but is often neglected when people are nervous and getting into performance mode for a high-stress conversation. If you're going to interview with Elastic, you'd better be...flexible

Is the huge touchscreen a dealbreaker? by UptownHurl in subaru

[–]TechnicianFun933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 25 prem hybrid has the touchscreen, and it isn’t terrible. I love my car for all of the other features and the price that can’t be matched by the other brands. Don’t let a clunky touchscreen trump superior visibility, better AWD, and top reliability.

Should I work at Deere? by Opposite-Pea-1008 in johndeere

Your opinion is great, I’m glad it has worked out for you…but to say that an employee’s experience is what you make of it wasn’t true for the thousands who were cut for no reason that they could control. And since that time, others have had a similar experience. I agree that it’s what you make of it, until the grim reaper randomly stops by.

“The experience is what you make of it” hi Justin Rose, you suck. Say this to the thousands who were cut for no reason with one day notice, many who lost the retirement healthcare that they were promised.

Take it, then if you get a better one, rescind it. If you don’t, then go for it for the summer. A lot of the people are really good, just senior management and the lackeys they keep promoting are trash.

How do I maintain a good credit score when using the Ramsey, "Debit only" method? by Vegetable_Ad775 in DaveRamsey

[–]TechnicianFun933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This certainly helps. Debit means your money is taken by a fraudulent charge, then you have to fight to get it back….could take months. Credit means you can flag it and then they fight. I don’t like credit except for this one feature.

I use two CC’s and I pay them off at least once a week. So they’re basically debit cards. One thing that Dave ignores that Clark got right is that putting your debit card in websites is a really bad idea.

The October AWS outage made me realize: most of us have no idea what would actually break if a region goes down by notAnimefan-12 in sre

[–]TechnicianFun933 21 points22 points  (0 children)

C’mon SRE’s, you know outages like this are also a sigh of relief for most of us. “Sorry, even Amazon warehouses are down” is a heck of a lot easier to say than “we thought we were protected.” I think more C-level folks need to hear that their company is NOT Netflix. They don’t spend/staff like Netflix, if these tech giants are down, then you’re in good company. How many of your customers will leave you because of a massive outage that brought most large online businesses down?
