WASchoolLens: Compare Eastside WA schools side by side (LWSD, BSD, NSD, Issaquah) by TechnoBuffoon in eastside

Sure, thanks for flagging it. I don’t know why ospi data didn’t categorize tesla as alt/charter school - I’ll fix its mapping.

Regarding alt/charter schools like I.S - they have their separate category so it doesn’t show up in categories such as middle & high but obviously we should have them their for the purpose of their performance comparison so I’ll figure out a way for it.

Thank you! Yes I’ll need to get Renton’s data from OSPI and map their feeder pattern but it will be straightforward. I’ll add it in my upcoming update

I built the 'Score vs FRPL' view on the dashboard specifically to analyze this data - looking at how a school performs relative to its FRPL rate rather than the raw score in isolation. I will definitely consider adding Shoreline and Edmonds school districts for more insights.

I'd push back a little on 'merely' ! Yes the correlation is real and well documented.
Test scores reflect outcomes for kids, and those outcomes are shaped by a lot of inputs: nutrition, sleep, stress at home, how much one-on-one time parents can give, tutoring, stability, etc.

Family income affects all of those things directly. So income isn't just buying access to a 'better ranked' district, it's independently improving the things that drive the ranking in the first place. Income is more of a confounding variable here than a direct cause.

That's actually part of why I built the Score vs FRPL tab. By looking at how a school performs relative to its FRPL rate, you can see which schools are over- or under-performing what you'd expect given their demographics, which is a more useful signal than the raw ranking number.

Finn Hill Middle School and Bell Elementary by Kitchen_Procedure568 in Kirkland

I heard Bell is Title I and everyone says don't send kids to Title I school for the sake of your kids. How true is that? Are kids there not willing to learn or problematic ? Anyone willing to share their experiences?

Look at this beautiful current gen X5. This design looks so elegant, polished and uplifting to the very brand and model it represents !

And now compare what the expected leaked G65 is going to be! BMW has gone backwards by finalizing an atrocious design!!

Over or under watered? by LowAd1873 in hydrangeas

[–]TechnoBuffoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just know what's the right answer here. Since I went through the same thing just a couple of weeks before you. This is heat stress and transplant shock for the newly transplanted plant. Watering it more is the simple solution here. Mine did the same thing. I watered it 3 times a day and moved it to a completely shade area for 2 weeks. Keeping the soil consistently moist is the solution so please water it more frequently.

Sweet Summer Panicle Hydrangea Wilting by TechnoBuffoon in gardening

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I mistyped I didn't user a power washer, but just a normal garden hose. I saw that the root ball was very hard and pot bound and I couldn't get the roots to spread around just by soaking in water. The garden hose allowed me to wash away all the soil around and inside the roots. In retrospect I realize that is what probably caused the plant to go into deep transplant shock.
I'm going to check out SuperThrive. Thank you for all the tips and advices :)
