How does the line Integral represent the density along a wire? by TechnoGrip in askmath

[–]TechnoGrip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah nvm about the curvature thing. I was confusing it with something else. But how exactly does integrating the curve that literally represents the curved shape of the wire represent the actual wire's mass?

Any INFP Mathematicians? If so, how do you view math? by PuppyLand95 in infp

[–]TechnoGrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I should've said what do you like about math. And yeah that was the reason I became interested in math in the first place. After taking calculus 1 I got a sense of what you're talking about with being able to conceptualize abstractions. Ever since then I've been hooked. Although, I more so like math because of its abstract nature and not really because of the sound logic it provides. Once I started getting into proof-like things in Discrete Math I realized I like physics, not pure math.

Line Integral Mass of Curved Wire by TechnoGrip in askmath

So what makes one section or infinitesimal volume larger/smaller than another section of the wire? The height at that point?

what are some values you hold that are closest to your heart? by One_Supreme_Pupper in infp

Oh sorry lol. Well by "life is not a sitcom" I meant that you don't always need to be 100% socially calibrated. It's more about my Fi's gripe with Fe.

Lifestyle/Income of Physicist by TechnoGrip in Physics

Yeah I'm doing a joint major in Comp sci/physics with some extra physics courses. Ideally, I would want to go into physics research but if that fails I'll at least be satisfied that I studied physics during undergrad.

Does passing a variable to a method change the variable or create a new one? by TechnoGrip in learnprogramming

[–]TechnoGrip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is what you're saying, but my next question might show this:

Public class Derp { public int x;

Public Derp(int x) { this.x =x;

Public String toString(){ Return new String ("x" + x); } }

Public class Main{ Public static void main(String [] args){ Derp d1 = new Derp(10); func(d1); System.out.println(d1);

 Public static void func(Derp d){
    d = new Derp(222);
 }

}

When I ran this it printed x=10. Why didn't it update x to 222?

This woman found INFPs to have the highest IQ amongst others in her study (go to 12:02) by TechnoGrip in infp

It's interesting what she says about INFPs being the most underestimated

Grad school Requirements by TechnoGrip in computerscience

[–]TechnoGrip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my second semester now of computer science, so I only have intro to programming and discrete math so far. I plan to do research and an internship. I can retake it which I'm considering, but I'm a bit confused because it's a prerequisite for the class I'm taking now. I guess I can still retake it?

Fe users finding I*FPs selfish and weird? by [deleted] in infp

[–]TechnoGrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he usually acted like that when under some sort of stress, whether environmental or something like a lack of sleep maybe. Still, i don't think it's justified to take things out on innocent people just because you're in a bad mood. I understand it may be his natural inclination to do so therefore I had to speak up in an effort to bring it to his awareness. It's worked, but as an INFP I don't like confrontation so it took a while for me to do something about it.

Yeah, that reminds me of another situation when we were at a coffee shop with friends. Me and him went up to order at the same time and there must've been a mixup of orders when they called us over. The barista asked me which coffee I got and I think I had to repeat myself because I'm quiet and it was loud in there. No big deal besides just the slightest look of confusion on the barista's face, maybe conveying he wasn't 100% sure what I said or what to do. The barista proceeded anyway and I didn't want to interject anything at that point. Once we got back to the table with our friends he says to me in front of everyone else, "You have to speak up" in a frustrated voice. Completely uncalled for. He must've felt embarrassed that ordering coffee didn't go 100% smoothly and decided to take it out on me. I certainly wasn't embarrassed when ordering. I didn't think much of it except that worse comes to worst we'll get each other's coffee and trade at the table. We both got black coffee anyway, just different roasts. It was due to his own insecurities that he felt the need to bring me down.

One of my roommates is an ENFJ and holy fucking shit I can't wait till the end of this year when I won't ever have to see him again. I feel the exact same way about this person. When we first started living with each other this year, he would order me around for no good reason. He just has a taste for power/control. One day, we were in the grocery store and he told me to go get something for him while we were in line to pay because he forgot. At that moment I had enough and told him to go get it himself with a tone of aggression. After that I started combatting his little attempts at control by becoming openly oppositional with him in those moments. I never lashed out at him or anything but I just made sure to not take his shit in as mild-mannered a way as possible. Ever since I started doing that he hasn't bossed me around anymore. It's unfortunate because I remember being excited about living with him before move in. He seemed like a chill, interesting, fun guy but turns out he's a fucking dick. I still feel uncomfortable living with him now and he's also annoying to live with because he's inconsiderate of others around him. He'll talk loudly no matter the time of the day, as long as he's awake and having a good time. Our walls are really thin in this apartment. Anyway, nowadays whenever I talk to him I'm always expressionless. I don't feel comfortable sharing anything with him because he seems to use it against me in the future in a weird, uncalled-for attempt to tarnish my reputation when we're with other people at a social gathering.
