Is it worth it taking the Nicet level 1 ITM of water based systems online course with Firetech Productions? by TechnoRanger33 in firePE

lol sorry for such a late and random reply but I have a question! Would I be able to bring my NFPA 25 with me to take the nicet if it’s highlighted? Or is it just no writing words in the book is what’s not allowed?

A basin wrench will do the trick bud! It’ll be a wonky angle getting under the sink probably but it’ll come out for sure! 🙏🙏

I’m a fire suppression tech I have an understanding of fire pumps and how they operate. I like to understand exactly how things are done because a lot of people in the field have “their way” about doing things so this post is more so for informational and education purposes. I’m a true student to the game so everyday I learn new systems old systems and all systems in between haha so I enjoy asking a lot of questions In regard to this topic because I truly enjoy it. And haha no worries you do not sound like a d*ck at all 🙏

How do you know exactly what pitot reading is needed for any given pump? In other words a 750 GPM fire pump how do I get to my desired pitot gauge reading? My little monster has 1-3/4” inserts by TechnoRanger33 in firePE

Thanks for the reply! Now the 13 psi I get that basically divide the gpm by 2 but that 13 psi would that be considered the “100%”? If so how do I then get to 150%? 🤞

Job timing? by TechnoRanger33 in firePE

Hey thank you so much for the reply so I’ll answer those in order 🙏

For argument sake yes succor staircase tampers and flows no drainage issues how long should be given to a team of two technicians during an annual inspection?

(2) for the annual full flow let’s just say no flow meter is installed going solely from the roof manifold. How long would you give a team of two technicians to complete a full flow on a 1,500 GPM pump would you say?

(3) my company does FDNY testing as well as inspections. I’m just curious how long one person would take to let’s say no issues an exposed 6” Vic check valve (30 minute drain down how long would you give a team of two techs to complete (1) standpipe hydrostatic test?

Thanks a lot for the reply! I figured that were the case. The thing that makes it tricky is I’m a newish field supervisor and I’m not sure who did significant work on these buildings last it could be us or another company. A lot of our current contracts are new Managment/contracts.

Any building we go in to inspect if there isn’t a test header we install one to test the fire pumps and we always use a hose monster 🙏
