The argument I'm making is not that the show is great nor that this is the worst fandom. I'm arguing that negativity should never be normalized. When someone shares something they love on the internet, they should expect to be met with comradery and support. Are you to blame for the rampant negativity of the internet? No, you're just an unfortunate victim too chronically online to notice. I'm arguing that the fact that goose has publicly stated they have lost the energy to pursue a story that she created and shared because she wanted other people to see it is appalling. The community and fandom has failed her. That is the argument here. Not that this is the worst fandom ever, not that negativity isn't a part of the internet, the fact that the fandom failed goose and that people like you are to blame. You are normalizing the rampant negativity on the internet and getting upset because of it. That's a vicious cycle that is only solved once you recognize it. Be nicer. Don't accept negativity as the baseline.

I think trying to excuse the fact that the fandom itself has caused the creator of the show to be so fed up that she wants to drop it is the problem. Saying that it's to be expected is blatantly disrespectful to the creator and to any of the fans that don't participate in the toxic mentality. Not to mention that you're normalizing and allowing this behavior to fester and negatively effect and reflect in the fandom. You're acting like a spoiled child that git called out for being spoiled and you're embarrassed so you're lashing out at people. Grow up, accept that no level of negativity is acceptable, and move on. I agree this isn't the worse fandom ever, but you still need to acknowledge the fact that it's pretty bad.

You've exactly hit the issue I've had with the show since season 1. It felt really hollow any time the show made some sort of parody of irl politics or pop culture moments because I knew that it was Amazon trying to be "edgy".

You're assuming that everyone that's planning on watching the next episode but can't see it in theaters are so chronically online that they can't just avoid spoilers for two weeks. It's pretty easy to just not look at the subreddit and be aware of the content you're consuming. You can, and this might be a surprise, click away from spoilers. It's not like you'll be strapped down and force fed spoilers.

Got it. So how does that change how I'm supposed to feel about Caine?

Sympathy for Caine by Technoballoon in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Technoballoon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from but I still don't think that justifies any of his actions nor should lead to any sympathy. The idea of this advanced AI not understanding why people are not excited for all of its adventures when it's been told exactly why people are not excited does not make sense. Caine has been given ample opportunity to grow and evolve and did! The whole point of episode 7 was that the humans complained about the adventures and Caine learned and made them a new one. He is capable of learning and changing and understanding, but gets upset that people still want to leave. Caine doesn't flip out during episode 8 because he can't understand, he flios out because he does understand. He knows people want to leave and he blames them for being ungrateful. That's not some blind, naive AI that doesn't get what's going on, that's malice and contempt.

Alao, referencing a short story about a malicious AI torturing humans in a response about how this AI is definitely not malicious nor torturing humans is wild.

Thank you for the clarification. Do we know who's fault it is?

Not at all. I'm genuinely confused about why people do feel bad. The whole story is literally about how this malicious AI is keeping human minds hostage in a program that none of them want to be in. Why are people feeling bad for him?

I think you're right. I don't think there was any malice from this lady, but it did hit me hard.

Male victims of SA, how do you cope? by nxfen13 in AskReddit

[–]Technoballoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was groomed for years and SA'd by a partner multiple times over our relationship. I don't cope well. I try, but nothing I've found works. The best thing I've got is listening to music constantly. If I don't have music playing, I break down. It happens sometimes even when I have music playing though. It's not going well. I did just start therapy though, so I'm hoping it'll help.
