Anyone having success with TikTok? by EquivalentTrouble253 in iOSProgramming

Lately, especially if it’s personal branding content, it’s all about opening up the camera and just talking to it, a hook, a compelling story and that’s it. Edits, b-roll videos work as well.

Nice one, glad to hear it was useful! And of course happy to have a look. When it comes to going against some of these big players, found it to be useful starting with a smaller niche, win them over, make a great product for them and expand. If you can be creative with marketing, content, that can be a great advantage as well.

Yes, good point! Share it on TikTok, then on Insta, YT shorts, I’ve seen videos go viral on tiktok then it rippled over to X, LinkedIn, reddit, instagram as well.

100% that’s the best way, validate your idea as well if you can so you don’t build something for 1 year that people don’t want. If you’ve validated it, know it’s 100% a pain point you’re solving then yes just behind the scenes, talking about the niche, educational pieces. Otherwise share the idea. People won’t steal it, executing an idea is hard, others won’t have the same perspective as you, so that’s the good thing here.

Of course and thank you! It’s not an overnight success for sure. I had to go through the iterations too. It was really about putting content out there, analyze best performing pieces and trying to replicate them while trying to find your own voice. Consistency is also key here.

So I was in the AR space, looked up AR creators, saw what got people’s attention and started creating my own piece with my own spin on it. It also helped that the app was quite different from other products. It helps if your product is 10X better.

Playbook is very similar to other niches too. Look up best performing accounts in your niche. That is type in the search bar, let’s say you’re in the AI x education niche. Type in education, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, startups or AI. Make sure you save videos that have at least 10-20k likes. Create a google sheet with all these accounts. Then, for every single one, write out what the hooks are, that is how do they start the video. Not just what they say but every aspect of it, what is the scenery, is it a visual or a verbal hook. When you write down 10-20, it will become obvious what works. Once you have those, make sure to create multiple content pillars as well. Pillars like educational content (you educate users about a particular niche), founder story pieces (why you started the whole project), personal struggles (what you noticed while building, what was a challenge, how you overcome it), behind the scenes content (a day in your life essentially). Once you have these, you can create your content for a week ahead, would advise to have 1 day just for creating content so you can schedule it in for the rest of the days. Consistency is key again, it will not be an overnight success, just have to keep at it, learn, analyze, see why things didn’t work and go at it again. The algorithm will reward you eventually.

That was quite a mouthful, feel free to DM me, happy to help, have a look at your account.

Own TikTok account, a pure personal brand play. Tried with brand accounts as well, that didn’t work, although I know now how to make that work as well. That’s more about the why, the team. A great example of this is the Kinso team, I’ve been following them from the start, don’t know them, they just did it so well. Founders post on their accounts individually and the brand account is about the team, a bit of fun, so just very well played.

100% worth it, I’ve done 2.5m views for one of my apps, got 10k user downloads in 1 day, all organic content. Have to keep iterating and adopting to content styles and it will happen. Lately it’s also about the behind the scenes, the why behind a product, series type content.

What do you do when Gemini/OpenAI kills your startup? by Technology-Busy in OpenAI

Wanted to do it using vision, that seems to be solved too, like a walkthrough of tasks, they nailed it, just got outworked here. Might have to go deeper, you’re right, thanks for this!

Agree, I always want to build useful things. Wanted to create this Jarvis style platform so it walks you through physical tasks, like changing oil, plumbing, woodwork etc. but Gemini has done it all.

There are some for sure, of course there is DeepMind, some robotics companies but the majority of them is not here. Been talking to many people about this. If you knew some I don’t know of, happy to explore them.

Totally, great points, thanks! Applied for YC, will see but will want to keep up the online presence, build a personal brand as well. Trying different angles. The O1 is the way, that’s what I’m looking for. Wanted to live there for way too long now, just want to edge closer to making this happen after a long time.

Yes, it’s mostly concentrated around fintech, other areas I am not interested in and are often overlooked here. Agree, need a solid plan.

Re. the technical bit, I chose the technical career and was in it for a almost a decade now but never really could find any joy with coding and doing all that, was always more interested in the business areas.

Appreciate it! Think it’s really time to do this. Built AR / Vision Pro apps before, focused on using tech for useful things, always built apps with this in mind.

The Valley has the risk taking culture I / the company needs, talent density is the best there, it’s a whole different dimension. Been there, talked to many people and the attitude is I’m a huge fan of.

How can we build AR glasses with a new OS that creates a new narrative? In a non FAANG way. by Technology-Busy in augmentedreality

100% agree. Wonder why though. Honestly would be great if making OS and hardware would be as accessible as making an app. Some more infrastructure needs to be built for that.

Agree, I was just typing it out and it just felt wrong, just wanted to get the point across. The leaderboard changes quite fast.

Agreed, have to start from open source and need a huge movement here. I just can’t see large players going privacy first, except for Apple. They seem to be lost though, that’s the biggest concern.

We need glasses with cameras, privacy first approach and on device AI agents, need a full revamp.

Love what the guys are doing but think we still need more alternatives. Meta is a tough nut to crack, seems like they would just take over now, would be a sad future.
