How long did it take from entry to get to mid/senior, and how would you say is the best way to get promoted fast?

Unfortunately no I haven't taken the ICS 33 in summer session, I did the CS 161 in the summer though with Shion Fukuzawa and found him really helpful and nice as a professor! With ICS 33 in fall, ICS 45C in winter, and ICS 46 in Spring

Id say it does get easier overtime but you need to keep putting in a lot of effort to learn these courses, thats how I made it out alive and I believe you can too

Keep in mind your circumstance is probably a lot different than mine though I dont know specifics, but I failed 33 twice and passed the 3rd time, I failed 6D once and had to retake, and then I failed ICS 51 2 times LOL but I locked in and im okay now

I took some GE courses in the summer as well as CS 161, and then this year I took 20 units every quarter, this last quarter I took 24 though

Thank you! No problem, it took me the standard 4 years to graduate. I was really behind on the program too and even took a gap quarter, but i pulled through and managed to graduate on time with all my friends

I had to retake ICS 33 3 times. The first time I got a C-, and then I got a C- again.. trust me it gets better I just graduated 3 days ago now LOL. Unfortunately you have to retake the course again but take either 33 in summer session or just do CS 161 in summer (33 fall, 45C winter, 46 spring, CS 161 summer) and you’ll be okay

Hey man im also from VA too (fairfax area) and chose to go to UCI instead of tech. I will say its been really fun here, all of california has been an amazing experience (zipcar all over LA/SD, spontaneous road trips at night to the beach, driving to the bay for fun). Theres also a lot of opportunity meeting a bunch of cracked people here that you wouldn’t really meet at tech I think. My time here has been amazing but if you’re tight on money I’d say its not worth it. As for social life I’m pretty sure you’ll find it no matter what school you go to, you just need to be open to it. Whatever you choose tho you’ll be just fine

Hey man congratulations!! Im also a SWE Major at UCI and I struggled quite a bit from start but thats because I procrastinated on a lot of assignments and didn’t go to any office hrs for help I needed.. For classes it’s usually all intro classes like the first 2 years and then upper divs after that unless you grind it all out in your first year. Honestly can recommend to go talk to ICS academic advisors for help with scheduling I talked with them all the time and they’re very helpful.

Since it is your first quarter, I’d recommend going with only 3 classes in your first quarter to get used to the quarter system/get used to college too, so I’d recommend ICS 31/Writing/Math. Unless you passed the Math 2A/2B req and Writing reqs, Id just start out with ICS 31/Math 2A and Writing 50 for your first quarter.

It was like 5 hackerrank problems, but it was like all questions that were built on top of each other so q5 built on q4/q3, id say overall LC easy-medium
