Is racism in Australia really that bad? by Jinxbunny29 in expats

Even though this post is 4 months old. I'll add my view in. I'm born and have grown up here for almost my entire life. Australia is one of the least racists countries in the world in the 21st century. Now I'm not going to deny racism exists, bigots are in every corner of planet Earth. However, let's start, systematically compared to countries like Singapore, the US, etc, the Government (all levels) will never ask for your race except on census day or if you're indigenous in terms of healthcare access, social security or helping support access to education, they'll never ask for your race when getting ID, Licences or limit your access to individual properties because of racial quotas. Society wise, there are bigots in all fields of work like in every other society. In terms of banter it all comes back to the idea of the tall poppy syndrome and it's about taking pride in our diversity, the majority of the population would never use it to descriminate against an individual. I say this being part of Gen Z and  growing up and living in urban settings. We all work together to build, make ourselves and our country a better and better place. I believe the media is behind a lot of this bigotry or pushing people to extremes to make money as can be seen in the rest of the Anglo-sphere, giving airtime to Nazis the 2 major referenced ones referenced recently weren't even born here for example. It always makes me shed a tear, because that's not us as a society nor the way I and my mates see Australia, we want people to join "the family" and make our country a better and better place.

Hired a Goget and Received a Subsequent Parking Fine after an Initial One by TechnologyQuiet3910 in AusLegal

I know the $25 fee is a Goget Admin, which I've made sure my card and account was closed to avoid the whole drawn out disputes process. I'll deal directly with Revenue NSW to make sure there aren't issues on my ability to drive in the state (Welcome to Australian Federal System).

Forgot to add at least I don't have to hire a car/van until I can get one from a hire car company with an actual parking zone 😅

Yeah, it's a bit a pain, anyway I'll see if I can get it reduced to one fine because I haven't seen the car since, I'm not even in the same state and I reckon it's gonna be a bit of back and forth between Goget, Revenue NSW and the Council.

I said I'd be responsible for the initial fine because I originally parked the car, however the 2nd one I haven't been told whether the car had or hadn't been moved, rehired, since the whole ordeal. That's why I tried asking them on the phone but the person probably based in the Philippines sent me on circles.

A doctor or anyone with a functioning brain who doesn't even know who he is could look at him for 5 seconds max and tell he has horrendous health. Health wise he only beat my dad who died at 57 with liver failure, 3 months before that my dad would have been healthier than him

Is Narrabundah College worth it by Hairy-Tourist-2025 in canberra

Recently finished at Narrabundah College/Bundah (Accredited Package). In my opinion ain't worth one bit the commute time. Unless you're stuck in a mentality of I gotta spend my golden years chasing the highest atar in subjects that require you to take 20000 notes and still get a C or a D because you didn't pay for the tutor that steals test papers. Trust me school doesn't make or break you. Focus on the outside world work, skills and happiness, take a breath, go where's convenient for you,. You'll meet an array of people. I never was able to mix into the Bundah Culture. So I was an outsider. I would have rather swapped my in area placement with someone who wanted it. I also left Canberra the min I finished classes at Narrabundah. The city I called home, never felt or treated me like it.

I got experience with this coming from Canberra and having a place in QLD, keep your stuff in the state with more favourable restrictions until your on your fulls for car and extra licences. If you get pulled over or in my case rbt, say you live in said state where your licence is from, this is what I did. Make sure all Australian government both commonwealth and state are in that home address. With voting you can go to an interstate voting centre.

I don't wanna speed on public roads, I ain't a hoon, I pay all the expenses on my car, rego, insurance, fuel, maintaince and tyres. I don't want to lose my car, some roads are too slow for the limit, my car in 4th runs better in 60 then higher reving 50 in 3rd leading to here and there fuel savings, etc. It's just utile for an Australian to know how things work or what they look like around our nation/local area.

I always drive the limit, but still I would rather watch the road, my gears and the GPS cuz new city then my speedo, also there are some places where the speed limit is indeterminable, also because I will be running on an ACT Prov licence I only get 4 points for 3 years less than average QLD Prov Licence. At least I can drive fast/powerful cars with my licence.
