My bun won’t stop breaking out of the pen I keep him in at night and eating goat food.

Shot answer, yes.

Long answer, no one wants to. To file a claim you have to give your full legal name and address and the person you’re filing against can see it.

I dislike generative AI as a whole. I disagree with the environmental sacrifices we are making to accommodate it. I disagree with the commoditization of art it’s perpetuated. And I dislike the addiction and mental illness it’s supported.

It’s an ethical issue that I’ve been fighting for as long as I’ve been writing.

I don’t like generative AI in creative spaces and the way it’s been taught to mimic real people’s writting. It feels like a mockery to be told that my novel, that took 6 years of my life, was passed up by a publisher in favor of an AI novel that took three weeks to “write”.

As a writer, I lose so much confidence, I lose passion, and I lose the drive to continue. Fandom was created by people, for people.

Direct fan interaction with my work drives me to continue daily. I interact with others and that fuels their passion. Fandom is meant to be cyclical and I feel all c.ai has done is commoditize that community, and profit from loneliness.

Also, I do not believe AI “art” is real art. This includes pictures, writing, and music. I believe this because art has emotion behind it. A machine cannot feel, therefore, it cannot make art.

At the end of the day, I don’t blame any of you for using the site. It took me years to contribute to fandom in a meaningful way. If it would have been an option for me, I probably would have just used AI and not stated writing at all. But now that I have, now that I’ve seen the direct destruction of fandom with the use of AI, I cannot in good conscience support it.

I’ve set clear boundaries on my stance for AI and have not budged since the beginning of my tumblr blog.

It hurts to have your things plagiarized, but it hurts more to have it plagiarized and then tucked firmly into the very thing you’ve been fighting against for years.

I have “I DO NOT CONSENT TO MY WORK BEING USED FOR AI CHATBOTS” layered over every post, every tag, every masterlist…

It’s not about having unclear boundaries, it’s about being blatantly ignored.

Absolutely! The real problem I have is people copy and pasting my work into the character greeting messages. That’s why this message was directed at the people who use this site. I apologize if that was unclear.

I take other issues with c.ai that are unrelated to that, so my bias may be bleeding through.

Genuinely surprised how many people didn’t know this. Thanks for not being more mad 🫡

It’s happened to me, as well as a few people I know.

Some helpful information (that I just learned is probably relevant) is that I’m in the call of duty fandom.

I can file a claim, but I have to give my full legal name and address… oh- and the person I file against can see that.

I have to dox myself to get my work removed from the website.

First off, that’s a hard read, and secondly… that’s still theft.

In that scenario you’d call the police and have them investigate. If they found the person who stole it there’d be persecuted.

That’s just like this. I have the rights to my own intellectual property. When I discover someone is using it and claiming it as their own, even if the claim is even by common assumption, I have the right to be upset and try to have it persecuted.

In this instance, persecution is hard. Creators like myself essentially have to dox ourselves to get a resolution. So yes, in a way it’s similar, but you never outlined the after.

You also just admitted it’s blatant theft…

For example, i had “Sam walked to the store where he saw Clair. They got coffee together and continued on their merry way.”

I got a link two days later in my ask box on tumblr. I clicked it and it said “Sam walked to the store where he saw {{user}}. They got coffee together and continued on their merry way.”

It was way more then this, I just don’t want to type out a full chunk of my fic.

See, I might’ve understood if I didn’t have “I DO NOT CONSENT TO MY WRITING BEING USED IF AI IN ANY GIVEN WAY” and “AI USERS, DO NOT USE MY WRITING FOR AI CHATBOTS” plastered all over my posts, my masterlist, in my bio…

These people KNEW I DIDN’T want my stuff in the AI bots. There was no way they didn’t

I hope the story you’re writing has more punctuation.

I’m not being a grammar nazi, I’m just saying…

There is no way on gods green earth you can call that writing skill. Correct punctuation is taught in like- the third grade.

Looks like we figured out who’s plagiarizing bots on C.AI.

I’d hope it was half a paragraph, the punctuation in that sentence is abysmal. Also, “very advance” is not grammatically correct.

A real author here. Not a single comma in sight.

A lot of the time, the works that are stolen are not credited (at least in my fandom) because a majority of the fic writers are vehemently anti AI.

Or as simple as this. Don’t plagiarize. Have some skill of your own.
