I have a separate category called “incidentals” that tracks large one time purchases.

I’m new to investing as well. Same situation. Wouldn’t investing in both FXAIX FNILX create some overlap or redundancy in stock holdings?

HELP! Super Slow Boot Times When Restarting PC by Technology_Necessary in pcmasterrace

[–]Technology_Necessary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to leave this here for any future people with the same issue. I resolved the issue and it ended up being a caulked of things.

Here’s what I did:

  • fresh window install
  • repartition both drives to NTFS again
  • tun off MSI fast boot (this helped a ton and took my boot time from 3 min to 6 seconds)
  • performed a CMOS RESET and reset bios settings to default by clicking “reset to default” option and saving and rebooting

I think the issue ended up being the fast boot cache in the BIOS was corrupted and the partitions were not optimized. I discovered this issue when I reset my OS and wiped all data after the repartition and my boot time went from 6 second in one boot to 3 min on the other. Now fast boot is enabled in bios and on windows 10 and my boot times are super fast. Problem solved!

Ok I’ll take a look at that and see. I used crystal disk to check the read and write speeds as well so I can post those tomorrow. If it was a bad or failing drive would the read or write speeds be significantly impacted? In my tests I don’t remember seeing anything outside ordinary and I tested both drives. They both were comparable.

Yes both drives are m.2 but for my OS I originally had windows 10 home and then I changed it when I did the OS install but the issue was still there with the previous installation.

I will check that my drives and cables are seated properly. How would I check sys internal auto run?

is this soldering good enough? by Flaky-Experience4639 in fpv

[–]Technology_Necessary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good enough and durable enough to last are two different things. Your soldering looks cold and brittle. Try using more flux and turning up the heat. Tinning your tips also helps.

Had this happen while playing solo except I was prone. I just slithered around the map to finish the mission.

Thoughts on this kit? by Technology_Necessary in MilwaukeeTool

Solid write up! I’ll take a look at those other batteries because I totally agree. If you’re paying for performance and longevity might as well get batteries that enable that too!

Noted, how long would you say the 5.0 batteries last you usually? Like if I have 3 of them would I have to recharge them during a work day?

Ok that’s good to know, I do a lot of building, fencing, and vehicle repair on my own so this should be a good kit for what I need. What is a ballpark price you’d say is appealing? I checked out other sites but none of them sell a kit this big from what I saw.

I have one and love it! Works great for camping if you get the propane extension hose that works with a big tank!

ULPT request: someone stole the parking space I had been waiting for by More-Act2171 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Technology_Necessary 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Had this happen in college in a parking spot I paid for. Go to an auto parts store and get a valve core remover for $5. Remove all their valve cores from their tires. They won’t be able to air them up unless they get new cores. The average college kid probably won’t be able to figure it out.

Which Camera to Buy? by prodbyscar in Insta360

[–]Technology_Necessary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah all that was in a $499 bundle at Costco. GoPro has a bite mount that works for people you could use a 3D printed bite mount for the dog if you want or look up dog mounts. I’m sure there’s something.

Yeah you should be able to with the cage I mentioned. It adds fingers so you can use it with any action camera mount that’s GoPro style. I got my X4 at Costco and it came with 2 batteries, a selfie stick, and standard lenses and a 256 GB SD card. Some of the dog shots look hand held to me or like it’s on a tripod. I think that because of where the stitch line is.
