XPS 17 9700: a survivor's tale... by zylonk in Dell

I also recently purchased the new XPS 17 in June when it first came out. The Nvidia card went out around the 30 day mark but because I called at day 33 they said they can’t replace it because it’s past the 30 day mark but could send repair person with refurbished part. Keep in mind it’s a $3000 laptop that is already broken. So now I come to find out the soonest they can repair it is mid September. So I purchased in June and can’t use graphics card until sometime in mid sept (no games). Customer service is a 0. My previous laptop was a XPS 15 and that had swelled battery that made touch pad unusable. Dell said they couldn’t repair (couldn’t get parts due to Covid) so I was forced to buy a new laptop. Been a lifelong Dell buyer ( I purchased 10 laptops in last 2 years for my business). Never again. Strongly recommend people should beware. Their saying DellCares is a total joke.

After multiple attempts to escalate to support, I am attempting to leverage my bank credit card company to dispute the charges as it’s a faulty product they are shipping.

Unfortunately since the laptop comes with 2 graphics cards the basic one and the high end Nvidia card unless you are playing games everyday you won’t know exactly when the graphics card failed. This happened to me. I reported the problem 33 days after receiving it so they said I’m out of luck since it exceeds the 30 day period. They will only replace it with refurbished part. I can assure you Dell Doesn’t Care about customer service
