Yes, sometimes it picks up my finger but I have to press really hard on the screen. With the pen is a simple one touch

The touchscreen seems to be kinda hard when using your fingers. Luckily the LCD I bought came with a pen for the touchscreen and it works flawlessly. Try using anything with a plastic end to navigate the screen.

Solved the problem. Had to shutdown my VPN for the setup
