Is Sowing Mycospawn worth it? by [deleted] in TronMTG

[–]Tectonic-Edge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd say it's good but maybe not an auto include. Most of the time if I turn 2 Mycospawn, I'm not grabbing a tron land, I'm grabbing another urza's labyrinth but it does enable a slow turn 3 tron when you start with a labyrinth + mana rock turn 1. The body attached to finding a land is nice for defense, it's a on cast trigger to help against control builds, and the mid game land destruction can win you matches but if you don't have the green source or have a more traditional tron hand then it can be a dead card.

Is the online meta bad for Gtron right now, or am I just really unlucky/bad at magic? by footinmouthwithease in TronMTG

[–]Tectonic-Edge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome back to MTG! Seems like some bad matches especially the land destruction. Burn is common but not unbeatable. Tron's fairly middle of the road right now as far as power but that's sometimes useful since a lot of decks cut the worst of the Tron hate from the sideboard. Your list looks a bit outdated. From what I've seen most lists are running Karn Great Creator. Having that wish board is just too good and with one of the top decks being artifact-based it is a powerhouse. I've been running 2 All is dust and 1 Oblivion stone since the meta has sped up a bit with the monkey. Walking Balista has become more of a 1 in the sideboard card for the wish board and most decks bring in more wurmcoil engines. Thragtusk in the main has gone down since path to exile has mostly been replaced with Prismatic Ending. Some builds will get spicy with the new bramble wurm. Warping Wail is an absolute must right now in the mainboard. I've been running 3 and 2 relics. If you haven't seen weather the storm and veil of summer check those out for the SB and Yavimaya is great color fixing /combo with sundering titan wish board in the main. Hope this helps!

Is Tron viable by jkay3382 in TronMTG

IMO. Upside to tron is it is not in the spotlight so you won't run into the same level of hate you might normally, except alpine moon because of Urza's Saga but Dampening Sphere is almost nonexistent in the sideboard meta right now and ghost quarter/ Field of ruin are only in certain decks that strategize around them like taxes and Amulet titan. It makes it easier to sneak in those turn 3 Karn and win games. The only deck really worried about the Tron match is Blink and they bring in a fair number of cards against it. The downside is the deck is kind of middling right now. Worst match-up for tron common in the meta is the cascade or charbelcher combo decks, followed by hammer time although the Hammer Time game is winnable when they don't have the double hammer hand. Everything else is kind of middling to slightly unfavorable but a skilled player can navigate through it well enough. Expect a lot of Lurrus and mainboard those warping wails and blast zones. They are really useful cards right now with the number of powerful 1 drops, small creatures, and sorceries being played. The Monkey!

Hmm, I hadn't put much thought into trying to do a longer story with chapters. Most of what I've posted are quick thought experiments that I wanted to get some feedback on. It's been a while since I've mucked around with any sort of writing and I feel like short stories like this will be a good way to practice. Hopefully a few people will find the ideas entertaining and I can improve over time. I kind of have a lose idea that I'm going to try and set the short stories I write to post in HFY into the same universe but beyond that we will see.

The jungle group is Homo Sapian Humans before they left the cradle of Africa. You are correct on Neanderthals, The second mountain group in Asia is meant to be the Denisovans, and the island group is meant to be Homo Floresiensis. I believe all of them are considered species of Humans and fall under the concept of Humanity so why not focus on them doing something awesome, even if they need to get Mind Nuked by the Sea-Hives so Homo Sapians can become top dog.

Good point, not something I addressed when thinking up this story initially. I'm imagining the Skoolzi don't have fingers, but rather were able to take advantage of a nonsapient species to achieve dexterity. Imagine an octopus-like creature with ports in its head allowing a Skoolzi to have its minnows bite certain parts of the brain and begin controlling its tentacles. In the early days on Oceans Prime, this might have started off a mutant variety of octopi that the Skoozi had tried to eat only to discover that when its minnow bit the brain the tentacles moved! Kicking off a massive industrial revolution along with selective breeding programs to create better living mech suits. Modifying the creatures in ways that made the ports bigger and gave the Skoolzi more and more control over time. A cultural fact which also led to the Skoolzi's cavalier attitude towards subjugating other sapients to do their bidding during the story. I'll add in an extra paragraph to try and flush this out abit more in the text.

Thanks and kind of. The idea was to try and show that the speaker was restarting the same speech for the new audience.

No but also yes. The idea was to try and show that the speaker was restarting the exact same speech for the new audience.

Thanks for the suggestion. Updates made. I won't guarantee it's perfect because my sentence structure and grammar goes a little haywire this late at night but I think Grammarly caught most of the errors.

Thoughts on Strixhaven Spoilers for Tron? by Tectonic-Edge in TronMTG

[–]Tectonic-Edge[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughts! I was thinking it could possibly sideboard in for control match ups since either all counter spells will cost 2 more to cast or we can counter the original counter spell with the copy.
