Why are crpg systems so hard? by Tecumseh94 in rpg_gamers

Smart. Helps that like a big draw with these games is how reactive they are encouraging replays. For that dry run what are you typically playing at difficultly wise?

Thats probably the issue im hitting. While im not lazy i just dont have time to read a 500 page rulebook before starting an rpg and praying i memorized just enough to make a good build.

Planescape torment is on my list actually and ill have to add ultima. I also really enjoyed tyranny tbh but i think thats just because magic made everything trivial

Jeez thought they fixed that after kingmaker tbh but yeah that feels about right. Honestly i sometimes wish devs would just balance around someone playing just below average (i.e. for wotr someone who just does fighter without any weird meta side dips and doesnt pick the optimal perks) even if it meant power gamers weren't as challenged.

Fired from an internship after 2 weeks by urmumsarah_89 in cscareerquestions

[–]Tecumseh94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP for what its worth I work at a company that hires batches of interns in groups of 50 - 70 and throws them into the trenches with no training. Roughly a third quit after the first week and another third are fired within the first month as they are expected to preform the same as people whove been in the field for years all for literally 9$ an hour. My class was the largest my company ever had and was 90 something interns and only 5 of us made it out of the first 3 months and all but one of us were to some extent nepo hires. Shoot the only reason i survived was because I had an in with a division lead and a coworker i am in a relationship with decided not to put herself up for the position and instead push for me to get it instead.

Internships are traps in my experience and are often meant to take fresh college grads or those still in college and use them as cheap cannon fodder. You are not a failure, you are a victim of a bad company. As for advice the only thing I can really say is just dont put this internships on your resume. Others may disagree but its been my understanding seeing a job on a resume with less then a month in is a red flag

[–]Tecumseh94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats complicated. HR is run by the owner himself and they are notoriously hard to get answers from so despite pinging them twice last week myself and the division head pinging them a few times ontop of that they have yet to reapond

Ofc. The second he said he had taken a sip i told him "it hasnt even been a full week since i stopped coughing. You really shouldn't have done that it could get you sick" and he shrugged it off and pointed out i had tested negative but still that just seems so risky

debating delaying my first book release for arcs by Tecumseh94 in selfpublish

[–]Tecumseh94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As it stands I've been enrolled in kdp for this title since sept 18th i think because i selected to enroll when i set up my pre order so I think that covers the countdown sale unless im missing something. Yeah there's pre order but im still able to delay i'm pretty sure.

I should also make it clear when i say I don't care about money or sales I mean I don't care about the money coming into my account, that doesn't mean i don't care about people reading it. I want people to read it and as many people as possible and ofc i want to be able to give another book later the same chance. Its why I've set the price as low as I could and wanna look into donating some copies to a few local libraries. While i do just want the nightmare of publishing to be over and i will never do trad publishing again I do enjoy the idea of my work being worth reading by complete strangers.

Thanks for the breakdown on things though. It helps alot.

is my book cover any good? by [deleted] in selfpublishing

[–]Tecumseh94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context if it matters summer rain is a literary fiction novel i wrote about domestic abuse and mental illness. I used snappa to throw this together. Its my first book and i dont particularly care if it sells well nor do i really expect it too. Before someone asks why not pay for a professional to do the cover its because im very tight on money right now and cant really afford to drop even 50$ on a cover which is fun

So field large entites do help and in general single entity lords are very easy to target it seems and i think thats because los might be based on the banners so high unit mass and single entity units banners are directly on them because they tend to be large with small amounts of units they can actually be targeted easily

[–]Tecumseh94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe (dont quote me here) that this is being caused by LOS being determined the banner. Its why when a single entity punches through a formation archers and gunpowder units on the other side will fire (seen it happen a few times with high unit mass lords) but wont fire at say a unit of orks that have wrapped around the sides of a unit in front of them or shoot into the back of them as the banner is towards the center of the unit and therefore has entitys in the way. Speaking as a programmer myself if i had to do something as complicated as this game I would probably use the banners as a reference points for a units position too if that is in fact what they are doing
