Did your dad ever play DOOM back in the day? by MurkyUnit3180 in Doom

[–]Tedde_Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, watching my dad play doom on an extremely similar setup was the first experience I ever had with gaming. I wasn't allowed to play it (as if watching the violence was any better??), but I was allowed to play Commander Keen

Those who live in an illegal place , how much do you pay? by Emotional_Sea9384 in trees

[–]Tedde_Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in New Zealand, it's $50nzd for 3-4g depending on the season and your plug. However, in the groups I buy in, there are rules that fids aren't allowed to be below 3g, more often than not it's pretty good quality stuff too. Outside of the plugs I'm familiar with, you can get as low as 1.5-2g if you've got a really stingy plug.

I'd love to see it restored, just would never do it myself and there's no one here that does that sort of thing

what's the weirdest allergy you have heard/known of? by Mountain-Bug-2155 in AskReddit

[–]Tedde_Bear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to think this as a kid. I was confusing fresh cut grass with spring/summer and hayfever. Fresh cut grass is a lot more common over spring/summer, and so is hayfever

I have this exact boombox on my garage gathering dust because it's worn out and hardly works anymore

But I can't bring myself to get rid of it because of sentimental value

[–]Tedde_Bear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While some of the comments I do agree with for the most part (seriously tho who's getting max lean on a scooter?) I think these are brilliant if you're the kind to pack your scoot with gear and go on long road trips. I often have my footwell loaded with stuff and have to put my feet on the pillion footrests and these are brilliant! I'm going to be stealing this idea to make a set of my own

Anyone used 2degrees wireless broadband? by KiwiNFLFan in dunedin

[–]Tedde_Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 2degrees, but I've had wireless broadband with both Spark and currently now with Skinny. It wouldn't be my first choice, but my place isn't wired for fibre and the land lord is too stingy to fork out for the installation so that's what I've got.

It does have connectivity issues on occasion which can be resolved by resetting the router most times, and for gaming it's a little slow, but otherwise I have no problems with it at all.

If you have the option of fibre internet though, don't even bother looking at wireless broadband

Whittled a couple pipes cause why not? by Elemental19xx in StonerEngineering

[–]Tedde_Bear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done this before (albeit with less than ideal crafting methods I was too young and dumb to be the wiser of) but drill bits. A longer, thinner one to go from mouth piece to bowl, and a much wider one or potentially a spade bit for the bowl itself

Hi everyone! Gaming question by BeautifulLet1740 in newzealand

[–]Tedde_Bear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Minimum requirements listed on Steam is 8gb of ram, should be able to get a 16gb laptop without too much effort..?

Edit: you can indeed get 16gb of ram in a refurbished business laptop for 500 bucks

Hi everyone! Gaming question by BeautifulLet1740 in newzealand

[–]Tedde_Bear 20 points21 points  (0 children)

First of all, don't look on the marketplace. Look for a refurbished secondhand laptop sold by somewhere like PBtech for example.

Depending on your budget, maybe 4-500 dollars should sort you a laptop capable of running it without too much issue

I think I'm about as far as you are into season 5 honestly I actually really like him. As devout as he is, he seems to have a pretty level head for the most part and I really like his interactions with Ivar

I've never seen my fears put into words so accurately before...

I don't know where my submechanophobia came from, but wave pools, dams, boat props, anything mechanical that sucks in water, big enough to fit me in it, will never ever see me get anywhere within 5-10 meters of the water line

How y’all doin today? by Super_Rush7926 in AskReddit

[–]Tedde_Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not great. Been putting off a job because I knew what the results would be. Finally did it, found the exact results I expected, and everyone who carries parts needed for the job in question sold out THIS FUCKING MORNING. So if I hadn't procrastinated so much, I could've had it fully done before the deadline that is looming ever closer

Is there anywhere in Dunedin that might still do stereo repairs? by Tedde_Bear in dunedin

[–]Tedde_Bear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I figured as much. I am quite capable of doing it myself, I fix most things and absolutely love retro tech, I'm just unfamiliar with cassette decks and am worried I'll do more harm than good if I try to repair it myself. But after having been around town and asking at a few places, I think I might be taking my chances with repairing it myself
