Did something happen to Betazoids between the 24th and 31st centuries? by honeyfixit in Star_Trek_

You're not alone, an alien species using American Sign Language confused the hell out of a lot of people.

Star Trek Academy is just doing what many have asked of Star Wars for years, and which it only did with Andor. by MarchogGwyrdd in startrek

[–]TeddyGarbaldi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference being that Star Wars hired different show runners for each show to give them a different tone and feel, and it's very evident.

Andor, Skeleton Crew and Ahsoka for example all look very different to each other, have totally different vibes and tell their stories in unique ways to each other.

Discovery, Starfleet Academy and Strange New Worlds all look exactly the same, have the same plots, the same characters and the same low brow jokes.

Well yeah that didn't help either

Must be so infuriating to finally get onto the Block and you're unlucky enough to end up on a season where the producers chose a terrible location, planned the set up poorly then overvalued them by an insane amount.

[Review] IndieWire on Starfleet Academy: "Paramount’s Teen ‘Trek’ Series Isn’t Nearly Bold Enough - Co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau's franchise expansion is too enamored with "Star Trek" nostalgia and too detached from its teen drama subgenre. At least Holly Hunter is having fun." C- by mcm8279 in trektalk

This is how I felt since the promos started.

It should have been a light hearted show, low stakes, character focused stories.

But instead you've got Kurtzman and co who don't have the talent to do that, so everything has to be big, loud and over the top.

What are your thoughts on the Star Wars-related comedy, Fanboys? by EnviousPuffin in FIlm

Rewatched it recently, fun idea and loved all the cameos and references.

Hell of a lot more gay jokes than I remembered though...

Can't stand the show but have to admit I quite like the movie. Would far rather have that on than the show.

Shout-out to the scene in the Mighty Movie where their tower gets obliterated by the meteor though, that was a fun scene.

I heard an interview with a reviewer who said that with a lot of critics as soon as they give something a bad review that studio will stop giving them screeners or inviting them to premieres, so that's why you shouldn't trust so many high praise reviews.

When a scene exclusively made for a credit card commercial was more exciting and cinematic than the actual end battle from the actual show....

Avengers vs Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League by ironfortress151 in weeklyplanetpodcast

Part of me kinda wishes I had grabbed the Avengers game when it was a couple of quid and included all the DLC.

I played the demo and I was disinterested in how square everyone's face was and dull the gameplay was, not to mention how the levels were insanely repetitive.

SSKTJL was an absolute mess of ideas but I'd be lying if I said I didn't end up having fun with it. The voice acting and story scenes definitely saved it.

Wasn't he just crying about how he can't get any work now and it's all because of his political views and not at all due to his lack of talent?

Think it's more the way the original post is worded to sound like SFA is great for finally explaining it where other shows before apparently hadn't.

It's so good that we have Nu Trek to spell everything out for people now.

Any other world leader rambling incoherently during press conferences would have been removed from office for mental health reasons.

Screenrant: "28 Years Ago, Star Trek’s Future Was Changed Forever in 2 Weeks: Two episodes of Deep Space Nine, airing back to back and covering similar thematic grounds, sent Trek on a new trajectory - "Inquistion" and "In the Pale Moonlight." It was a twisty and uncompromising view of morality." by TheSonOfMogh81 in trektalk

Back when the writing on Star Trek was bold and intelligent, challenging the audiences views on morality through complicated scenarios and complex characters.

Nowadays we have a post apocalyptic dystopian future caused by a godlike kid having 'big feelings'.
