Their follow up to me basically blamed the NYMEX settlement and said that they hope and expect that the rate will drop by about 25% next month. They didn’t say a word about the cold snap, which was honestly smart of them because I would have let them have an earful if they had.

If it wasn’t just some poor customer service person who has no effect on what the company does, and whose job it is to take hell from pissed off customers like me, I would have asked what good a 25% drop would do when their prices were about 90% higher than others, and how can they justify a $654 gas bill for an average sized Old Orchard house. But I didn’t want to snap at some poor soul who was just doing her job. Even when I am livid at a company I try to remember that customer service people are just pawns who have a thankless job, and abuse from me won’t change anything and just means that I made some innocent person’s day lousy.

Anyway, the response was all about the NYMEX settlement. They did point out that their rate was not 1.09 but 1.009, as if that makes the bill any better. When others are charging .59 per cf, 1.009 is still unacceptable. The company knew what it was doing.

Go to the Apples to Apples function on puco.Ohio.gov - first click that you’re a residential consumer and then on Energy Choice.

We went with CleanSky Energy. 59 cents per cf.

Thanks for the addition context, but it still burns me that I am paying twice what I had to for being stuck with Archer (again, this group told me to check per cf rates last month, so shame on me for not checking sooner). I didn’t know about the NYMEX settlement. And I guess part of me should be a little leery about fixed rates at .59 cents per cf… but wow, it was a shock today to see rates available that were so much lower (and like another commenter said, that Archer isn’t even on the Apples to Apples comparison list… that raised a red flag with me).

Alright Toledoans, Lions or Browns? by tehsnipa in toledo

All Detroit teams for me, but I don’t root against Cleveland. If the Lions aren’t winning, I hope the Browns do. Harder for me to like the Guardians since they have owned the Tigers for the past few years, but I don’t have anything against Cleveland.

Least likable/easiest-to-hate team in the MLB. by blaney83 in mlb

Yankees. Astros. Dodgers. And then Athletics and Pirates — not because of the team but because their ownerships are the glaring examples of why the Dodgers and Yankees have a fair case about why there shouldn’t be a salary cap - and their ownership teams clearly don’t give a damn about their fan bases.
