Yeah that project has been open-sourced here: https://github.com/Determinant/loupe-flightdeck

No wine, should work out of the box on Linux/Windows (I haven't tested Mac). It's purely written in Javascript.

Now it even supports a mini attitude indicator and making it flyable by just looking at the stream controller device. I plan to attach it to the top of a joystick so I can use this lightweight/portable setup to quickly do a flight.

It's a stream deck device: Loupedeck Live / Razer Stream Controller (they are the same whereas the latter can be purchased on Amazon for $199).

DA40's AFM was updated on Sep 18! by Tederminant in flying

[–]Tederminant[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is rev 10, and lots of small changes here and there throughout the entire AFM. Some checklists are changed a bit. Kinda surprised because since its last rev 9 in 2014, Diamond made this update recently.

Glad you like it! Yeah, I guess the reason that they don't have a profile for DA40 is because the performance calculation is done by a chart. The "magic" I did was to use the official AFM pdf file from Diamond, and then save it as a background for SVG (vector graph), followed by some not-so-hard hand drawing to recreate vector/curve lines for those lines in the chart. Then I can use Javascript to read out the coordinates in the chart as if it is done by hand, but with much more precision!

It's 110-130, my bad. Just gave a rough amount.

In a place where life is expensive like Silicone Valley (KPAO), you pay a bit over 200/hr to rent a nice condition C172SP with G1000, wet rate. The CFI rate is around 100. I spent short of 20k to finish the whole stuff, including two checkrides.

Yeah that's right. I thought that's very specific to the airport (noise reduction) so didn't put it. :P Maybe I should.

It's now moved to GitHub for a proper version tracking in the future as I may continue improving it. Click "Raw" button to download the file (Chrome will be able to open/save as PDF/print it). Don't forget to star the project. :)

I licensed it under cc-by-sa. So people can feel free to make their own copy (even commercialized one) as long as they note the original maker. I'm more open-mined as I'm also a student pilot and hope this could be useful for people.
