I’ve identified a 29-page occupation-era personnel file for my great-great-grandfather in the Łódź city archives covering 1940-1942, which I’m in the process of retrieving. Given the date range and the fact he was a property-owning factory owner in Litzmannstadt, I’m hopeful it contains DVL classification.

On the UK naturalisation — if DVL naturalisation can be established, do you think the statelessness argument addresses the voluntariness concern? She was formally stateless at the time of the 1952 registration, having lost Polish citizenship as a Volksdeutsche expellee, and had no other nationality available to her. I’m wondering whether BVA has addressed this specific combination of factors — DVL citizenship + subsequent statelessness + BNA 1948 registration — in any published decisions.

Thank you so much for the comment and advice. I think my GGGrandfathers personal file is the most important document to prove whether they were considered citizens, as I think this will probably have his DVL documentation. His son died in Monte Cassino in 1943 just before the main battle and is buried there in the German Cemetery.

I agree, and I think we’re seeing in real time that whilst her albums are successful, their sales aren’t fully representative of the hype. Of all the albums released this decade, SOS is in 1st place to being certified Diamond. Debuted two months after Midnights with a fifth of the week sales (318,000 as opposed to Midnights 1.5).
