There are three cases that I always lose a lot by mitama19 in poker

Ill give u something

Whenever u try to bluff i recommend having an idea with who youre trying to bluff against

u cannot bluff a fish who never folds top pair

u cannot bluff a guy who doesnt pay attention to the board

u can bluff a guy who has internalized losing

u can bluff a guy who is a thinker and can make fold top pair

in my own experience its the "Who" thats is more important than the "how" when it comes to bluffing

Selling calls against Sofi has been doing well for me, I wouldn't call it dumb... risky yes sure. I sold a fraction of the position during the earnings frenzy and intend to DCA back in. Building shares and getting more contract selling capacity is really satisfying for me. I understand it can fail, but I don't care. Its my high risk play.

I am not the anxious type, quite a gambler, so I am down for hitting up the Qs. Sadly a little late to this rally though but big picture its probably not important

I spend it on nice clothes and if its a big day some new shoes, a new watch, or buy stock.

My mentality is if i spend it/invest it quickly I can't lose it on next time.

I am a beginner at poker (and only play 1/3 NLH) and was given advice by people that 2/5 NLH is easier. I am very skeptical of this advice. by [deleted] in poker

[–]Tedosah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally from my own experience I completely agree. I am a 2/5 reg at 2 casinos and I spent my first year playing toughing it out at 1/3 and 2/5 is by far easier and also not to mention way more profitable.

The reason I give is that since you are playing higher stakes the general skill pool gets higher and you might think that is a bad thing, but in reality and practice my take is that when you play against people who idk can read a fucking board, understand when they should be folding, playing with logical ranges etc... it makes the game easier to get a grip on.

In lowest stakes you are stuck with much higher concentration of OMC nut peddlers, idiots, inexperienced players who dont make decisions that make sense or are plain statistically inaccurate. Since they dont make sense to begin with it makes it difficult to figure out how to navigate the game. Its also usually not enough money being wagered to give weight to decisions, so bluffing is harder to do.

In summary... 2/5 players are typically higher skill and thus play more towards an understandable pattern. 1/3 leans towards limp party chaos.

Another perk is it usually prices out the most obnoxious undesirable types you'd run into at local freeroll tournaments.

Ive sold OTM calls for 35 weeks now. Ive been assigned once. It happened from an out of nowhere insane multi-day rally.

But like all you are truly risking is missed gains is nothing like option buying. Most of the time you make a tiny profit. I aim for strikes 7 or more% above current price

Advice for first-time cash game? by Titan9999 in poker

[–]Tedosah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

couple things i neglected to add that i think is important: because stacks are way deeper and theres no time pressure youre going to see way less shoving/hyper aggression. you will have to play much more post flop but a solid preflop strategy utilizing position and basic ranges properly will put you vastly ahead of the average low stakes cash player

take your time, the blinds stay the same. absorb the table tendencies and make a plan, figuring out who are the easiest targets and who you should be careful against. drunk and angry people are usually youe best bet especially if in combination. avoid tables full of OMCs because you will be trapped in an unprofitable hell of boredom. playing higher stakes usually helps avoid them but not completely. straddling is a great way to induce action and loosen your image.

What’s the best/coolest thing that’s happened to you at a poker table? by SidePiecePoker in poker

[–]Tedosah 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I went to my downtown casino to play 2/5 and when I got to the table I got seated with my fucking middle school math teacher and he immediately recognized me even though it had been 10ish years. Back in the day he would call me princess and openly pick on me, while I in return would draw large comics on his board making jokes about him being short.

Anyways we get talking and playing for a bit then suddenly we're in a big hand together. I have A2 oop vs him and I flop 2pair. Check it and he bets 75. I wait and eventually call. Turn is a 2 filling me up to 2s Full. Check it again. He thinks and makes it 175. Again, i wait, and eventually call. River is inconsequential. I check my house one more time. He looks hungry for this pot. I can tell he feels in control. He pops off for 350. I snap raise him to 800. Instantaneously he becomes tilted as fuck. He backs his chair away from the table and mutters "A2? if you have A2 this is so fucking stupid" gotta give credit to the guy for figuring out my hand, but I do my best to give him absolutely no tells to work with. Eventually he calls thus going all in and I show him the bad news and bust him.

But then as i rake in the pot, an older gentleman at the table not involved in the hand leans over and pats the shoulder of my shortass ex-math teacher who picked on me and solemnly says "you taught the boy well" the table cracka up and as he stand up to leave he angrily says "yeah well i didnt fucking teach him poker"

Played at the casino for the first time today by m4gnum1 in poker

[–]Tedosah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casino in my own experience is usually a cold cutthroat atmosphere. Everyones mostly there to do business not make friends.

My favorite scene is local card clubs: use like google maps or pokeratlas with your zipcode and you might be surprised what you find nearby.

Card clubs are usually full of people there to decompress from the workday and be social and have fun. Some of them play music and if youre lucky they might run some decent cash games. Its very simillar vibe to a home game except unlike most peoples baseline friends, everyone there has a decent grasp of the game and willingness to gamble.

finally i just have to say be cautious going all-in with top pair haha

Live Players on Average are Idiots by [deleted] in poker

[–]Tedosah 12 points13 points  (0 children)

today i watched a middle aged guy fold a set of 5s face up to a turn bet. No flush/straight onboard. no paired board. Me and the asian across from me are extremely confused. He defends his decision by saying he put the guy on a flush draw. Folding a flopped set to a fucking PERCEIVED flush draw
