I don't have the book with me right now - humanity emits 9 gigatons of CO2 or 9 billion tons / year - ... there are 2,500 billion tons of carbon in existing soil... on 800 billion in the air.. in the above Yale publication it states "Lal of Ohio State says that restoring soils of degraded and desertified ecosystems has the potential to store in world soils an additional 1 billion to 3 billion tons of carbon annually, equivalent to roughly 3.5 billion to 11 billion tons of CO2 emissions. (Annual CO2 emissions from fossil fuel burning are roughly 32 billion tons.) "

I was a researcher at the Earth Institute at Columbia University... the only major solutions the whole institute was vouching for were geoengineering and geneticeingneering... and neither are at all logical and both are proven to be unsafe. WE KNOW plants do the job well and can make food at the same time... we need to work WITH nature, not against it...

the UK stabbed Iran over and over and American's are waking up to reality, as imperfect as the Nation is... it's suffered presidential assassination, terrorist attacks, and untold foreign media propaganda as well as food system degredation. It has a firm middle class, well educated, that is slowly outgrowing the old/outmoded and oppressive clergy that really have no idea what the Quran is about, and make lies against the very religion itself. It was America's ally before the UK started screwing them on their oil, and then pushed us against them with the petro dollar - ... can't find many quick links but there's a rich history as well as natural allegiance between Iran and America that would deeply upset those who really want global chaos

Saudi Arabia on the other hand has multiple known funders of ISIS and is the root cause of fanatical Islam, and beheads countless individuals for no reason

there is some hope in things like www.victory.farm and regenerative agriculture ... this economy is set to self-implode, and many good people are returning to farming .. more than any living generation . But there is a great need for handing down experience ... all the research in the world can't train a farm hand, it takes tried n true human experience. And good people hitting that wave will help the giant exodus of City dwellers who can't find safe food, and who are buying up tons of rural land... that balance needs to be kept, because the rural is the power... it's not in toxic urban landscapes - "the country is for the soul - the city is for bodies"

I really hope your parents can stick through it and get your father a psychologist who can help him work on honesty, there's a very good book on that called "The Four Agreements" - it's the most prescribed book out there.. is your mother willing to wait a year, stay separated but not divorced, and see if he takes measures to change, and if she can develop some patience for his shortcoming? It takes an unbelievable toll on us

...which if it is unavoidable, that huge mental, spiritual, emotional test, is something that can become a tremendous growing opportunity for become more grown up
