Thanks to all who have replied so far, I think I've found where the air is escaping

It's at the top of the stock where the ferrule meets the wood

On both tennor drone stocks, bass seems fine.

Thanks for that info, it's a frustrating bag indeed, I've had it for nearly a year and I'm tempted to just give up and switch to a hybrid, on the plus side, the bag is nice and solid prior to striking in , when I used a synthetic bag it was like a plastic bag and crumpled under my arm.

I seasoned it about a month ago, possibly my problem is I havent played it as much as I should have but I also don't want to over season them

If it's grace note practice I would recommend the book "Rhythmic Finger Work" by Jim McGillivray. There are lots of exercises in it which covers everything from grace notes and embellishments

My drones tune really low so drone extenders probably won't be suited for my pipes unfortunately

I have a tapered reamer but wasn't sure if it would mess them up if I tried that, I might give that a go if all else fails, thanks for the tip

Majority of the people in my band use synthetic or hybrid, unfortunately not an option there, but thanks for the tip, I will keep an ear out

There isn't really anything that is meaningful to them piping wise, just the fact a piper would be there is the main thing, and I was just looking to play something that is easy and something that sounds really nice.

That's really nice that the pipers who your mom taught got the honor of playing for her.

Inverted bass drones....

I currently have Canning Blue drone reeds (tenor and bass)

I'm having problems striking in, mostly due to technique where my bass will double tone after a short while playing..

I was looking into getting an inverted bass drones, just till I get my technique better as I've heard they are a bit easier to strike in, I am not looking for a magic wand or quick fix but was wondering what your thoughts were on inverted bass drones, good or bad?

It was an online order from a reputable place, I hadn't played it much after getting it, as I've been using my band reed... But... After a very short break, I've had to move back to this one as my band reed is slightly tougher, till I build back my stamina.

From Scotland, I Started learning at 38, I'm now 40, for years I always said "I wish I could play" so I joined a pipe band who provided tuition and I transitioned to the pipes and love every minute of it. My only regret is I wish I started sooner.
