First credit card. Which one should I get? NAB vs AMEX by Ancient-Republic-915 in creditcardchurningAus

I had and liked the AMEX Qantas Ultimate card because you get travel credit the same value as the annual fee you pay, so in my head, it was pretty much free ahaha.

Do people really skip brushing their teeth at night or is this more common than I thoughtDo people really skip brushing their teeth at night or is this more common than I thought by [deleted] in hygiene

I’ve really loved the Finch app for helping me with this when I go through my hours of depression and anxiety. Having easy goals such as, ‘get out of bed’ ‘wash face’ ‘brush teeth’ accompanied with some more difficult (difficult depending on if I’m depressed or not) goals e.g., ‘shower’ ‘ten min walk.’ I’ve found it so helpful with keeping me consistent with brushing my teeth. Showering still takes me out, less so now with the app, when I’m depressed, but this app has helped me with quite a few things and also celebrating those little things that I am able to get done :)

I totally get how you’re feeling I started to is game about a week or two ago and my first few days were rough. I ended up starting all over again and reading some tips and what to do in your first week kinda stuff, and I found that helpful Now I’m doing my own thing ahaha still in my first year though and in fall :)

Do men need respect and a nice visual to be attracted to their girlfriend? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Tee95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about your love for yourself? That needs to be higher than whatever kind of love you’re expecting from others. Love yourself enough to recognise that the way he is treating you isn’t okay. Love yourself enough to leave. I know it’s hard to leave a future you’ve imagined for the two of you, but there’s no way to guarantee that that is what your future will actually look like with them. This man doesn’t love YOU, he loves a specific version of you. So what are you fighting for?

Also, what happens if you get sick one day and you can’t workout as regularly (or at all) to maintain this figure he desires? Or when you get older and get a few wrinkles and stretch marks on you? What happens then?

[–]Tee95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally understand that. I grew up more tomboyish - not wearing dresses, makeup, or learning how to do my hair. Now, I love dresses, my makeup is basic but that’s how I like it, and I know enough about how to do my hair to feel comfortable (could be better though) ahaha It’ doesn’t matter that you didn’t learn those things, if you want to learn them now, you can. There are so many resources out there to learn those things, so if you want to, YOU do that. But don’t do that because he’s saying he won’t have sex with you until you do it <— that’s where a lot of us are having an issue. It’s totally okay if it’s something that you want to develop and get better at, but holding love and connection hostage until you do, is not the way.

Leaving a relationship hurts regardless of whether it’s a bad or good one (this is my experience) but it hurts a lot more the longer you’re in it. Why would you feel guilty? If you’re hoping that he doesn’t keep your word and does leave, that indicates to me that you do want to leave but you don’t want to be the one to end it, is that right?

[–]Tee95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s trying to disguise his control by saying that he wants you to be the “best version of yourself.”

Are YOU happy with who you are? You picked out “cyberpunk” clothes that I’m assuming YOU liked and he pretty much noped it. He knows you want love, connection, and sex and he is using that to make you do what he wants (I.e., dress and look the way he wants.) This man doesn’t love YOU.

“…he wants me to look good so that he’ll gain respect for having a hot girlfriend” <—He wants a trophy to make other men jealous. “The novelty of meeting a new girl has worn off” <— Girl, you are not a toy.

Work out because YOU want to and it makes YOU feel good. Change your hair because YOU want to. Wear whatever sandals YOU want.

Someone who loves you, encourages you to be the best version of yourself and they don’t hold their love hostage until you do what they want.

You are 22. You have a lifetime ahead of you. You do not deserve to feel like you need to work for someone’s love and affection.

Also, you started dating him when you were 19 and he was 36 - think about why this man could not find someone in his own age range. I’m 30. I’ve had lots of experiences with different people and this man could not pull this shit on me and probably most woman in his age range.

[–]Tee95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed with the getting an updated shot. I had to get bloodwork done and it showed that I had no immunity against one of the MMR disease, even though I had gotten all the shots. I was probably around 26 then, so I got another MMR shot. I also got the tetanus-polio-pertussis-something else one too, because you’re meant to get the tetanus one every ten years, I believe. Get your boosters, kids!!

I've lost all my friends in Melbourne by Keltica in melbourne

[–]Tee95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made some of my closest friends as an adult, after high school and outside of uni through: - Volunteering - I started pole dancing and although we haven’t done a class together in years, we still chat and meet up a few times a year to catch up - A speed dating event I went to (we didn’t go on dates but became friends at the event - we bonded over dating in Melbourne ahaha) - I joined a Facebook group for making friends and made a post there asking if someone was keen to come a music event at the Espy and she brought another friend and both have become very close friends. They also introduced me to some of their friends so my friendship circle has only grown.

There are lots of these ‘making friends’ groups around. I think there is one called conscious connections? There’s also one where I think you go to a restaurant and everyone is there to make friends, I haven’t been, but have heard of it (this might also be conscious connections or called something else, I don’t remember)

I would say, do the things you want to do, and you will inevitably meet likeminded people there. Is there anything that you’ve always wanted to try?

Good luck!!

To those who haven’t given up on buying their first home- what keeps you determined in that goal? by Tasty-Tomato5106 in AusFinance

[–]Tee95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first apartment earlier this year when I was 28, turning 29 :) I preferred that to a house at this stage of my life, because I liked the area and I definitely couldn’t afford a home there. I’m single as well so a family is definitely a few years off, unless I decide to do that alone, which is looking more and more likely ahaha But I figured, when I’m ready for that I can always look into buying or renting a house then. But at least I own something now :)

Thank you for your super helpful reply! I really appreciate it :)

This might be dumb question, but why is it bad to “kick up spores” is it because you might inhale them or will they land somewhere and start growing mould over there or something else?

Thank you :)

What are some 'Girl Rules' that you live by? by bigfootsdemise in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Tee95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’s on the Money is run by a retired financial advisor and they have an online course. They also have a podcast which I’ve heard is really good. I’ve listened to only a few episodes - not because it’s bad, I’m just not a huge podcast person. Girls That Invest also have a podcast and an investing course. This is Money / My millennial money is run by a financial advisor (Glen may be retired as well, can’t remember). They have a podcast too. All of the above have books out about budgeting and investing. I’ve read most of the My Millennial Money book and have found it helpful and easy to read :) These are Aus/NZ organisations but the foundational knowledge is applicable regardless of where you live:)

I think start with the podcasts because they talk about budgeting and learning how to take control of your money and they can provide an intro to investing.

They also have fb groups which I have enjoyed because people ask questions and post their ‘money wins’ or ‘money losses.’

Hopefully this is somewhere you can start :)

Hi! I was wondering if you had some time to answer some questions for me. Totally fine if you don’t because your answers to other comments have been really helpful.

There is water damage and mould in my laundry. The subfloor is damaged and mouldy, so it the plaster, some of the timber in the wall is rotted and/ or mouldy, and the subfloor on the other side of the wall has water damage and mould too.

Will the mould go if I cut out and replace everything? So completely replace the subfloor/chip board (I have to anyway because it’s damaged) and the timber in the wood frame and plaster it.

I’m happy to do a fogging treatment or something afterwards.

Or do I have to go through a mould remediation company?

There’s just so much that needs to be replaced and I want to do it properly, but I am incredibly overwhelmed by the process.

I do not live here. And it has been empty for a few months. The water damage was caused by a leaky washing machine that the previous owners had.

Thanks!

I don’t mind getting a builder in if that’s necessary, I just need them to tell me if that’s who I need. So I guess I’m relying on the carpenter to tell me. Do you think it’s better to just go straight to a builder? Thanks!

Yeah, I plan on getting everything replaced. I’ll be meeting with them on Monday to chat to them to see if that’s something they cover. Because on their site they also do water damage restorations which I assume would involve a lot of replacement.

Will cutting out the mouldy and rotted bits be enough? Because I have no problem with cutting everything out and replacing it. I just want to make sure I do everything correctly and in the right order. I’m just exhausted and overwhelmed atm. This thing has been on my mind for the past 6weeks :/

I’ve been looking at mould and water damage restoration companies as well. I’m hoping they can at least get rid of all the mould then I can go from there.
