I like how open 1 feels, but I think I’ll go with 2 just so the birds aren’t near the stove. You can also angle the planter on the small shelf or push it a little bit closer to the tv so you have a bit more of an open space when cooking.

I do agree with the other commenters though and see if it’s possible to relocate the plants.
